A big thanks to fellow member rgCoinGuy

I just found out he lives about 20 minutes away. And he offered to take
a few photos for my album and to post..The 1884-O I picked up on ebay for 22 dollars. The Half eagle I bought
on the BST from Hyperion for 235.00 shipped

Thanks again Rob for your kindness

Pretty basic setup. I use three reveal bulbs in flexible clamp/desk lamps so you can move them around. My camera is a Nikkon coolpix 995 purchased used off ebay for about 200 bucks, and a 30 dollar copy stand off ebay. The 995 has an excellent built in macro, so no need for extra lenses. For some coins (like the OK Proof Quarter), I use a cut up milk gallon container to diffuse the lighting.

  • Very nice pictures. How would you describe the luster of the coins in hand compared to the photos?

Any cartwheel shiners in the mix?
    Is this the same camera?

I have found power in the mysteries of thought.

It is always a question of knowing and seeing, and not that of believing.

Our virtues, and our failings are inseparable, like force, and matter. When they separate, man is no more.

    RG,

    Great pics!

I see from your desk photo that you have one of those halogen high intensity desk lamps.
I bought one from Brent-Krueger awhile back. That is one valuable tool when grading.
Really makes the hairlines, bagmarks and rub stand out.

    Regards, John

BTW, Hope you had a great holiday.
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

Wow, that proof quarter came out pretty good.

It's always nice having fellow coin folk who live near by. I have met several forum members who live around me as well.

just got this one back....I know you hard core ASE collectors might try and take me to the woodshed over this but I think it is cool.

I challenged Rob to get the true colors in the Hologram and I think he did a great job...

And you have got to love the gold plated ASE...Both were bought from coll3ctor on the bst for a buck over melt at the time

so they were still cheaper than my local BST...image
