                    Yep, I'm giving away a copy stand to commemorate my 4766th post. Why the unconventional cardinality commemoration? Mockery of many modern commems, I guess. Or maybe I just don't use it anymore and would like someone else to benefit from it.
Anywho, here's a picture of the prize:

Camera not included, and shown only to illustrate scale of copy stand. Someone made this for me a few years ago, and since my main camera now is a Nikon D80, this copy stand is no longer suitable for my purposes. It works fine for a pocket camera. The base is 9x12 inches and the camera is about 11-12 inches above the base in the picture. It disassembles quickly with a screwdriver and comes with a base from a broken tripod that holds the camera nicely.
The rules for this giveaway are complicated. You may enter by merely replying to this thread, but such entries will be entered in a "second chance" drawing. To be entered in the "first dibs" contest, you must suggest to me what my next coin purchase should be, down to the grade. The person that posts the coin I agree with the most will win. In the event that I don't like any of the suggestions enough to declare a winner, those who suggested a coin will be given two entries each in the second chance drawing that will include all those who entered without suggesting a coin. The winner will be selected Friday afternoon, so that I can get their address and ship the copy stand before leaving town on Saturday.

Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Any mate pr lincolns
As for your next coin purchase, gold is always good. I'd look at a nice $5 Indian... a first year S mint in MS62, in a PCGS holder, of course!
Just wanted to chime in that I like that idea for jury rigging a stand. That looks like it was made out of an old filing cabinet.
Regards,
Wayne

To be specific I recommend getting an MS63 Illinois Centennial. (from your home state by the way)
Also would be your personal tribute to 100 years of Lincoln cents.
Thanks,
Mark

As for a coin, how about a 1853 No arrows Liberty Seated dime in AU 55-58 PCGS Graded.
Just kidding. I don't need the stand anymore either. I got a Canon EOS Rebel XTI and had to upgrade my copy stand as well.
I do have that same camera that is in the picture.

And thank you for the copy stand!

As you can see I really don't need a copy stand as I use a Nikon too.

I would suggest a kool Bust Half coinage in a nice AU grade...
You should totally go out and buy a 1918 MS65 Lincoln/Illinois Commem Half. One of my favorites!!

edited to add: Thanx for the opportunity! My shaky a$$ hands? I NEEDS to get me one of those things!
Thanks for the chance!
You need to buy a 7/8TF weak VAM33A....like the one I have on the BST
wes
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
BTW, sorry for your day going the way it's about to go. Thanks for the chance.
Round and shiney, possibly toned;
It will be made of metal and copper, silver or golden in color;
May or may not be incased in plastic, cardboard or lucite;
It will be dated, that I am sure of;
It may or may not have one of the following mintmarks D, S, CC, O, W, P
Ok, since I'm a mind reader too, I'll stop. You don't have to think that thought twice, but please refrain from refering to me in that language in the future. I'll know about it

So much for getting a bakelite Missouri tax token in a paper envelope, I guess.

The finalists were:
- sparky64 with the Lincoln commem in 63
- jmj3esq with the Gettysburg in 65
- illini420 with the Lincoln commem in 65
- prooflike with the 1917 25c in 64FH
- thisnamztaken with an 1838 $5, grade unspecified
I then looked on my desk and realized I need to make a payment this week for my daughter's band trip to Hawaii next year and decided sparky64 was closest. I will pursue a Lincoln in 64, however, not 63, based on the bang-for-the-buck quotient, which is defined as follows:
BBQ[g] = (P[g+1] - P[g]) / (P[g] - P[g-1]), where g represents a grade level and P[g] the price of the coin at that grade level. If I use the PCGS price guide in this calculation, BBQ[63] = 24, BBQ[64] = 2.17, and BBQ[65] = 1.19. If I use recent sales from Heritage, however, BBQ[63] = 1.7, BBQ[64] = 3, and BBQ[65] = 2.1.
Now, sparky64 may have thought he was buttering me up with the whole "home state" thing. That could have been a fatal mistake. My home state is Wisconsin, I've just lived in Illinois for the past 20 years. Anyway, sparky64 can PM me his/her mailing address and I'll get the prize out post haste. I'll probably have a contest like this again sometime, and probably lean more toward a coin outside my comfort zone.

I don't have a copy stand and look forward to putting it to use.
Thanks messydesk that was a lot of fun.
PM sent.

p.s. Close call with the Illinois home state rhetoric. I was afraid I might have been reaching too much.

Didn't even think to look up where you were from either, guess I just got really lucky there. Just picked the Lincoln 'cause I'm grew up in IL and love that coin!!! Congrats sparky!! Thanks again for the chance.
