  • I'm definately no expert in Japanese coins but this one looks wrong to me. The details are too fuzzy. You should try if the weight is the same as the one stated in KM - this type is often falsified.

    I agree. Among other problems, the tail feathers at 3:00 are far too indistinct compared to the rest of the strike, and the open fields of the reverse have a cast texture. I'd be surprised if it comes within 5 grams of the specified 26.96g.

    BTW there is no "n" in Meiji.

    The out of focus picture is not helping.If it is a genuine, it looks like it suffers from the usual bagmarks and nicks on the non dragon side and a line that could be a scratch.

    I was wondering if you were back from Japan or not. Are you? Tell us all about it! Did you meet any pretty 2-sen pieces?
