Sellers on eBay think they are sooooooo smart

I thought this auction was a good deal (how does one guy get so many of these jersey cards?):

Once I investigated it, I found that the guy with a 1 that beat me has only received feedback from that seller, and the only items he has ever bid on have been those seller's items. This really miffed me, so I felt compelled to send him a message:
I see I lost this item by one bid at the end. I see the only feedback the guy has ever received has been from you, and the only items he has ever bid on have been on your items. This seems a little suspicious. This isn't the way eBay is supposed to run. If I'm wrong, I apologize. If I'm right, you should be more careful and fair in running your auctions.
So annoying.

1. Shill an auction.
2. Start ANY auction in the current EBAY-environment for less money
than I would be pleased to receive as a final bid.
Some of the bad sellers are simply disgusted with the "buyers' market,"
and are turning to the darkside. Using BINs is the much easier solution.
He is my brother in law, and I encourage him to bid on my auctions. I tell him what cards I put on and If he wants them he bids on them. I just got back from getting paid from him, he said he would have went to $200 on the lot. I wish you would have bid him up for me. Surely family members are not excluded from bidding. I would like to thank you for bidding, and sorry you did not win
He's got moxie for thinking I'd believe that.

From ebay -
Because family members, roommates and employees of sellers have a level of access to item
information which is not available to the general Community, they are not permitted to bid on items
offered by the seller–even if their sole intent is to purchase the item. Family members, roommates or
employees may purchase items from a seller without violating this policy simply by using purchase
options–such as Buy It Now–which do not involve bidding

RIP GURU
I have owned an eBay Drop Off Store and eBay Trading Post for over 3 years.
Originally when we opened our doors we had a computer terminal inside the store showroom area for local customers who came in to see items we had for sale and on auction, the computer terminal allowed eBay members to log in under their own eBay account and bid on items that were on auction as well as non eBay members to sign up for an eBay account so that they could bid on items they were interested in and only available via auction listings.
About a year ago the Federal Government (I believe it was the FTC) came down on eBays massive shill bidding issues (they US Government and FBI had over 700,000 complaints via their websites). At that time it was determined that it was not possible for anyone to differentiate between bidders which placed bids from a similar IP Address as the sellers IP Address and the practice was deemed illegal and against eBay policy.
Many but not all eBay Drop Off Stores And eBay Sellers who had retail locations who allowed for a computer terminal or workstation in their place of business for customer bidding were notified of the new policy and were ordered to cease all activity of the kind immediately or face suspension. As such ours was removed the same day.
As far as this sellers reply he is dead wrong!
eBay Trust and Safety would find the practice of family members bidding on each others items as completely bogus!
You should absolutely report this information to them and get this crook suspended.
If not share the sellers name here and allow someone else to do it and try to make eBay a little safer as it is a mess.
Sorry you lost the auction but you are probably best off anyway...
Good luck,
Bill

<< <i>And I will bet money he will still be there a month from now pulling the same garbage. Ebay has a hard time when it comes to doing the right thing. >>
Actually recently Ebay has been taking a tough stance against shill bidders when reported correctly. 3 of the last 4 I have reported are NARUed now. Waiting on this one.

Lee: but it's a long walk up the cellar stairs to her place.
It's OK just as long as you don't want to DYBII.
