"Your ball doesn't have one actual Yankee signature on it. It's a blatant fake"
The Ball is 100% Authentic.....The Autographs would be deemed authentic by PSA or any of the others. The guy who gave it to me was a large ticket broker in NYC and did alot of Yankee Tickets
And by the way....this is not spam....it's a sob story...with a link....
<< <i>Hate to break the news to you, but your brother stole your ball and replaced it with a ball that HE did all the signatures - then played with it.
Your ball doesn't have one actual Yankee signature on it. It's a blatant fake, but hey, you'll probably get 99 cents for it anyway..
PS. eBay spamming belongs on the Buy/Sell/Trade board anyway... >>
If it wasn't guaranteeded I'd be afraided of it. Some of those "signatures" are awful.
Price guides are funny . American league would be stamped directly in the middle of the baseball , official ball would be stamped directly above that , where it looks like yours says something but I can't make it out , also the letters are different , American was stamped with a capital letter , that one appears to be lower case ?
It also says 80 cc which I think is a Rawlings but a Minor league ball An official baseball would be stamped RO-A
That is not to say they don't sign baseballs like that too , I just don't know what the price guide says about the sigs being on a minor league ball versus an Official American league baseball ?
It is hard to see the sigs , they're pretty banged up but I'm going to guess there are a lot of Clubhouse sigs on it , because what I can see just don't jive .

Are you sure it is not one of those facsimile baseballs they used to sell at ballparks? I have a Reds ball that I thought was legit until I showed it to an autograph person and he explained what facsimile balls were. I also have a 1952 or 1953 Giantsball without Mays though. Bob

Looks to me like 800 grit sandpaper was used on that ball...but that's just me. I played a lot of baseball when I was younger on fields, pavement or otherwise...and I never had a ball that ended up like that.
I posted this on the BST forum in the thread there too, but it needs to be posted here too:
Sir, I don't know you, but for $7.99, you can either prove your case to everyone or have your item taken off eBay. PSA DNA offers a Quick Opinion Service
Quite honestly, I would guarantee if Quick Opinion proves your case, i'm 100% sure your item would sell for double what you would get without it (because you could edit your auction to tell buyers that it passed). All you do is put the auction number in and pay the fee. It takes less than 48 hours. The downside is if the item comes back "likely not genuine" eBay will pull the auction and refund your seller fees. You would not be allowed to relist. Just a friendly piece of advice. I don't want to get in the middle of this...but I use this service for any autographs that I'm considering buying. Best of luck
Folks who do not want VERY direct opinions, should probably not ask for them here. The people here are a pretty spit-it-out bunch, but I doubt any of them intended to be rude to the OP.
It's also always important to note that the written word on these boards comes over a good bit harsher than the same spoken words would. Actually, that is part of the purpose of the "smiley" inventory.
For the record, I didn't take the OP as spam. I thought it was a decent story.
The profanity was probably not necessary.
Folks Who Bite Get Bitten. Folks Who Don't Bite Get Eaten.
If people here do not think the sigs on the baseball are legit it's probably a pretty safe bet they're not .
As was mentioned if you get it authenticated you will be able to sell if for more money .
A lot of people will not bid on it without the LOA , that's so easy to understand why do you get mad about that ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looks to me like 800 grit sandpaper was used on that ball...but that's just me. I played a lot of baseball when I was younger on fields, pavement or otherwise...and I never had a ball that ended up like that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe it had a little bit of dirt on it , so his brother tried to get the dirt off with the belt sander ?
<< <i>Looks to me like 800 grit sandpaper was used on that ball...but that's just me. I played a lot of baseball when I was younger on fields, pavement or otherwise...and I never had a ball that ended up like that. >>
36 grit. The bigger the # the finer the sandpaper. I use 800 up to 2000 grit for wetsanding when I paint cars in lacquer.
<< <i>Are you sure it is not one of those facsimile baseballs they used to sell at ballparks? I have a Reds ball that I thought was legit until I showed it to an autograph person and he explained what facsimile balls were. I also have a 1952 or 1953 Giantsball without Mays though. Bob >>
Mays was in the Army for most of 1952 and all of the 1953 season. A 1952 ball with a vintage Willie Mays signature (back when it actually looked like his name) is a very pricy item, and he doesn't appear on a true 1953 team ball.
I think he meant the extreme flurry of bidding activity and the outrageously high bids prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the ball is legitimate. We're all losers and don't know anything.
The ball ended at a whopping $119 and was won by a guy with no positive feedback in 6 months. Hopefully it's somebody's backup account.
A real signed yankees ball with munson ended a couple weeks ago at $650 with a good buyer.
Yea, you're exactly right Mr. Jim , a baseball with those sigs , especially with the Muson sig would do that number easily depending on the condition , the condition of that baseball was little fuct up but I think it would have easily gotten a HELL of a lot more than that if Legit and that auction pretty much proves it . .
I guess though in this persons mind is if he can grab some raggy baseball off the field of the little leaguers and scribble a few names on it and call it a Yankees signed baseball he'll probably hook someone out there . . . I dunno ?
Now that it has been purchased and it will probably go for authentication I wonder if this person will keep his word and return the buyers money when it gets shot down ?

I don't think you need to offer your money back guarantee here, I doubt anyone here will be bidding on that ball. Just so you know.

I can never remember which way that works. I should've just said sandpaper.
But it would not be woth paying psa/dna $125 to authenticate it
Just sell it as it is!
