Hi all, I am usually over at the coin form most days.
I have about a 15 year old Whites Goldmaster which located
mostly Copper,Clad, Silver and lots of bullets out here in the west.
Best luck for gold was to ditch the detector and head straight away
to a river bottom. Here is some "pickens' from a recent dredge
with a buddy of mine at a local river. The #&*(+%$# Riverimage

Very nice.... dredging is a lot of work, hopefully one can find a glory hole or two. The GoldMaster would work well around old mines... detect near the walls of the mine... expecially if it had trundle carts to bring ore out... the tailings would fall off to the sides. Cheers, RickO

I don't have any knowledge of dredging, but I do understand the gold! What's the approximate value of the two vials (if they're called that) you've shown us? Mary

marym, you can try panning for gold right here in your own backyard, http://gonewengland.about.com/cs/mainesightseeing/a/aacooscanyon.htm

I have been there, stayed overnight at the campground and was lucky enough to find gold. Go in mid summer when it is the warmest so you can wade in the river and the river is at it's low point. Lots of fun, bring a youngster with you.

Thanks all for the welcome, great interesting board. I will posts some pics of my "Coin pile accumulation" soon
But as far as the gold.

Ricko : Yes dredging is damn hard work , my back is still sore!

btw thanks for the mine tip, but don't do the closed mines too much anymore.
Bad experience while back, Friends dog fell down a mine shaft deep
in the interior of a horizontal Silver/ Gold mine.

Marym: Total weight is only about 1/3 of an ounce
and most buyers buy at a slight discount out here
    due to small silver content.

    cheers
    Paul

Paul, you are correct.. old mines are also dangerous.. for several reasons.... one must know the situation/mine very well.. and never, ever, go alone. Cheers, RickO
