dug some old buttons today

before today these were a much wanted item to dig for me. these buttons are from the oldest railroad where i live (san jose CA). there is'nt alot of info on them on the internet, so i'll need to hit the books. the buttons are from the san jose railroad. what i don't know is why the buttons say" SJ & SC RR CO.", not sure what the "SC" is for. the Sj RR co. only operated for 7 years( 1863-1870).

i was thinking santa cruz or santa clara, but i can't find any reference to either. we have a RR museum, i may need to ask them.

tried cleaning one of the buttons with navel jelly. no new info on them yet.
