    Looks to me like $2,950.00 for Each coin?

    A coin would be nice and photo's would be even nicer however I suspect struck through grease and not uch of a premium. Besides, at those prices, onky "certified" error coins should ever be considered.

    image Duh! I'm such an idiot!

    Of course ole stupid here was think nickels when you were actually referring to Presidential Dollars! imageimageimageimage

    The Missing edge lettering Jefferson's are kinda wide open since so very few of them have come up for sale. Those that did appear, appeared to be WAY over priced!

    Given the current population reports of 881 available, I'm thinking $2,950 is very steep! I would think 500-700 for MS65's to be more reasonable.

    390499 (2007) $1 Missing Edge Lettering Thomas Jefferson MS
    MS64=20
    MS65=364
    MS66=393
    MS67-103
    MS68=1
    Total=881

    When these were first offered, I think there were only 110 or so graded but those populations have risen dramatically. At this point, there is no telling where the final figures will end up so my advice is to hang onto your money for right now.

    A little perspective:

    First Day of Issue Presidential Dollars bring way more money in varieties and error's.

    Washington First Day of Issue Missing Edge Lettering Pop totals = 447

    All PCGS Price Guide Numbers which are typically high

    FDI MS64 = $200 (178)
    FDI MS65 = $325 (208)
    FDI MS66 = $1,150 (61)

    -------------------------------

    Jefferson Missing Edge Lettering Coins Population = 881 with 0 recorded as First Day of Issue
    Grades range from MS64 - MS68

    These coins are not offered very often and as a result folks have been lead to believe that they are "rare" when in reality they are not. $2,950 appears to be so far out of line that its really shameful and reflects poorly on Oxford Club.

    the number on the one pictured is 390499.65/12003263

    most likely that is not the one i would get-

    i bought it-because i have 30 days to send it back-no charge
    (benefit of being a lifetime member of the Oxford Club)

    along with the info provided-it says "fully smooth edge-not weak or missing"
    My passion is ase and have registered sets nearly complete pf 70's and ms 70's
    so i am a little out of my element here.

    30 days-so why not ?

    The PCGS Price guide lists these coins as:

    MS64 = $2,000
    MS65 = $2,250
    MS66 = $2,500

    Again I think these prices are inflated due to a control of their release by the current owner(s) and these will most assuradly drop over the next year or so. No doubt at all in my mind that spending $2,000+ for one of these coins is a waste of arounf $1,500 that will never be seen again.

    AHHH, yes, I was thinking Nickels at first also. $2950 sounds pretty high according to the pop reports Lee posted above, you may want to check heritage, ebay, and teletrade completed auctions and be prepared to send that one right back where it came from.

    The price is way out of line with the pop for each grade. I won't comment on why but I hope it resolves itself soon. --Jerry

    I agree, send this one back and spend less on ebay for the same product. You may get a ms66 for the asking price of this 65.

    You certainly could. Better yet, for that kind of money you could get something that actually has real value, like a 55/55 in MS63!

    These coins are being strictly controlled in both price and release.

    Resurrection Time!

    The latest population reports on this particular "well managed promotion" are as follows:

    MS64 = 20 at $2,000 (Was $2,150 on 4/20/2009)
    MS65 = 487 at $2,500 (Was $2,500 on 4/20/2009)
    MS66 = 663 at $3,500 (No Change)
    MS67 = 122 at $5,000 (No Change)
    MS68 = 1 at $7,500 (No Change)
    MS65 (FDI) = 3 (no price set)
    MS66 (FDI) = 1 (no price set)

    Total = 1,297 (I'm hoping my $500 Direct Ship order will have some in it!) (It didn't image )

    Now look at the Missing Edge Lettering Adams coins:

    MS62 = 6 at $275
    MS63 = 82 at $285
    MS64 = 707 at $400
    MS65 = 461 at $650
    MS66 = 67 at $1,350
    MS64 (FDI) = 178 (no price set)
    MS65 (FDI) = 70 (no price set)
    MS66 (FDI) = 2 (no price set)

    Total = 1,573 (Again I hope my $500 Direct Ship order has some in it!) (It didn't image )

    "MS66 = $2,500"

    I think the coin in a Bowers sale last year fetched around $600 or $700. I'll ask J. Hernandez to investigate that further next time he is adjusting prices for Presidential Dollars.
