First off...if there is any possibility they are collectible, don't clean them. If you have something like this:
No big deal..it's a common date coin with very little collector value....on the other hand if it's like this:
Don't clean it....don't even rub it...be very careful...you could reduce a valuable coin tremendously by cleaning it...A gentle wash in soapy water with a very good rinse will be better....on a slick coin or common date coin, Arm and Hammer baking soda does a great job....
Good advice... cleaning is relevant to the coin.... if modern clad.. no problem... silver, first check it against the Redbook. Colonial... consult experts. Cheers, RickO

Mine are regular dates so I'll use the Arm and Hammer baking soda
