Book smarts

I have almost completed a Pr cameo collection of Franklins. I have a feeling the last two that I need will be tough.

So I was thinking in the mean time to look for Pr cameo quarters and dimes of the same circa as the halves.

So my question is what book(s) are best to read before I head off in this direction.

Thanks. Bob

There are no books relating specifically to the cam quarters and dimes (or nickels, etc).

Follow your instincts on what is offered and enjoy the pursuit.

Tomaska'"Cameo and Brilliant Proof Coinage of the 1950 to 1970 Era" might be helpful if you don't have it already.

Yes, I have it and it's a good book. You can get it from his website for free, but you have to buy something.

Rick Tomaska's book would be a good place to start, and I also suggest Val J. Webb's Cameo Proofs 1950-1964. This book was published in 1984 and I'm not sure if it's still in print, but Val is an expert whose information would also probably be useful for you in regards to completing a cameo set.

Also, that sounds like a fun collecting venture. I like 1950's cameos myself and often deal in them.

Have you thought about adding a cameo 1952 "Superbird" quarter to your cam quarter set? That could be an interesting addition.

  • Thanks for the info.

Stella, Val Webb, I have never heard of him. I will look for it.

A book, or two, is always a good idea before embarking in a new direction. Cheers, RickO
