Nice breakdown. It does seem this year they really cranked up the presses on this stuff. Nice in that box prices are reasonable. Can get them delivered for under $80.

It actually doesn't surprise me much at all. I'd think it would have a greater appeal since it is a reproduction of an original card from the original A&G set.

Well, thanks to the great members of this thread, I have completed my all baseball relics set (76 relics). I have attached the scans - its my first relic set of any kind. These are all in 15-pocket sheets (but i photoshopped it). I had to free them from their entombment. I like that these will go great with my mini sets in the binder. Poor willy mo is not pictured.
I've done the relic sets last year and this year. I despise them and I wish that I could quit! Although, if I had enough balls to rip them out of the frame I'm sure that I would like them better.

I pulled the most unusual relic out of a pack last night and would like to get everyone's thoughts on it. It is a Group A relic and I have not seen another one like it. It is not a Wooly Mammoth or a one of one but it will defintely get your attention. I'll get a picture of it later tonight so stay tuned......

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Its real easy to remove those border cases...just pull down from the corner towards the back and they just peel apart easily. Go for it Paul! Its really easy.

If you think there is a chance you will sell off the set, then I really think you need to keep the card in the original holder it came in. Why topps put them in these, I have no idea. They are aweful holders and not needed when you really think about it. However, the original card is "framed" so I think that is how they need to be kept for maximum resale value.
There are lots of these out there and I know if I needed a certain one for a set, I'd want the one that is still in original condition and wouldn't buy one in another shape unless I had no choice. But there will always be choices with these simply because there were so many made, even 190 should be enough to keep people happy for years and years

The great thing about cutting the baseball set out of the holders is that its a cheap set, once you start popping out the higher priced non-sport guys you might have a depreciation issue. I wouldn't see anything wrong with keep them in the holders and putting them in 9 count sheets....of course this is a set that actually looks better sans holders so who knows.
I think Topps framed them because these minis are thicker than normal minis...and if they just put them in as-is, then it'd be easy to pack search it. With the frames, they are basically the same thickness as the states or perez cards, so theres less chance for searching.
These relic minis are also on a glossy much thicker stock that almost feels plastic to me, rather than cardboard. maybe its just because of the coating.
I don't really care too much about resale because really how much are they worth in the first place? I think if i sold a mini set and included them, they are a nice addition. And I think with such a complete subset, they would be desirable in the 15 sheet organization. If i just had 5 or 6, i'm not so sure. For me, I only collect the minis, so i didn't want any normal-sized cards cluttering things up. Thats just me. I think it has enough appeal i wouldn't really sacrifice when reselling.
This has my attention now.....anyone got any 07 or 06 relics??? At one point i had 5 scott rolen white jerseys. I can't believe i want another one.
i got my 149-266 from reese today-thought i was finished- looked thru set need # 33 i have 313/323/102/reg back mini and 201/136/110/78 to give ya for it-, i checked 5 times this time, only need 33 reg back mini-this small# on the back of the cards is aggrivating they are so small
You are right, those relics will look very nice will all the other minis. I do have plenty of relics from other years if you need them. Its funny, I pulled like 6 Chavez's last year and this year he was a SP!
Randy...Now Im afraid to look through my set again in fear that maybe I missed something too. Those numbers are very small. We take that for granted when other traders are nice enough to look through all their cards for our needs. Trading these causes much more headaches than does heritage.

<< <i>Anyone already completed the odds calculation on the increase in A&G production over 2007? Per my rough calculations it looks like Topps produced about 40% more of the product in 2008 over 2007. If I've already missed a post on this let me know. I was surprised at the size of the increase.

2007: 1,867,000

Nice breakdown. It does seem this year they really cranked up the presses on this stuff. Nice in that box prices are reasonable. Can get them delivered for under $80.

It actually doesn't surprise me much at all. I'd think it would have a greater appeal since it is a reproduction of an original card from the original A&G set.

There are lots of these out there and I know if I needed a certain one for a set, I'd want the one that is still in original condition and wouldn't buy one in another shape unless I had no choice. But there will always be choices with these simply because there were so many made, even 190 should be enough to keep people happy for years and years

non-sport guys you might have a depreciation issue. I wouldn't see anything wrong with keep them in the holders and putting them in
9 count sheets....of course this is a set that actually looks better sans holders so who knows.

These relic minis are also on a glossy much thicker stock that almost feels plastic to me, rather than cardboard. maybe its just because of the coating.
I don't really care too much about resale because really how much are they worth in the first place? I think if i sold a mini set and included them, they are a nice addition. And I think with such a complete subset, they would be desirable in the 15 sheet organization. If i just had 5 or 6, i'm not so sure. For me, I only collect the minis, so i didn't want any normal-sized cards cluttering things up. Thats just me. I think it has enough appeal i wouldn't really sacrifice when reselling.
This has my attention now.....anyone got any 07 or 06 relics??? At one point i had 5 scott rolen white jerseys. I can't believe i want another one.

I pulled like 6 Chavez's last year and this year he was a SP!
Randy...Now Im afraid to look through my set again in fear that maybe I missed something too. Those numbers are very small. We take
that for granted when other traders are nice enough to look through all their cards for our needs. Trading these causes much more
headaches than does heritage.
