Okay, I broke down and went to the local shop and bought a box. I'm pretty sure I paid a little more than expected, but oh well.
Pulled 4 relics; Damon, Veritek, Sexson, and someone else.

I did however find this dude name F*kudome in my packs. Who's that guy?!

And thanks to everyone else who congratulated me on the Crawford. My brother opened that pack and just said "sweet, Crawford" before putting it in the pack. It was definitely a nice surprise.

Just FYI, one of the guys that was opening a case when I was at the shop earlier had pulled 5 Rip Cards from his case and he was only 9 boxes through it when I had left.

It was a hilarious scene in there. One guy busting box after box in rapid fire succession talking about how his wife is going to kill him, me and my brother trying to decide if I have enough money to buy a full box rather than a few packs, a guy and his friend busting a box on the other counter, and then another guy on his cell phone who was pacing around the store before walking up to the counter and saying "alright I give in, give me a freakin box!". I've never seen so much commotion in that shop before, the shop owner must be loving it!

No, I'm over on the East coast about 2 1/2 hours from Tampa. I just added the shop in the main Shops thread.

    Wem, NICE HIT!!!
  • GuruGuru Posts: 3,127
I am pleased that there seem to be more than 2 hits per box this year. But, does that mean that in later release there will be less?
  • ssdawg77ssdawg77 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭✭✭
Here is a full break down of what I pulled in my 6 boxes. I completed 1 base set and 2 state sets. I have not opened the 3 cabinet cards or the 3 N43 cards. Everything below is for trade. I do need a few cards still as I had a few that are bent. Came out of the packs that way. Anyone else have this problem? These are the cards I need to upgrade the damaged ones in the set: 9,38,77,192,237,246,248,336,343,346 and that expletive guy. Is anyone ripping the rip cards? I haven't decided on the one I pulled. oh man, its on. Im back now and will be scanning for you guys. LOVE to see all the rips. This is going to be rip central for the next week. A few observations:

    1) Crack the code cards are of two kinds...the ad part, which are maybe two a box, and then the actual cards with letter around them, which are one
per box, even though I only got 5/6 boxes.

    2) You certainly get more than 2 hits a box!

    3) A&G backs seem more plentiful

    4) The base cards are once again beautiful

    5) What are the BO minis? and what are the orange cards?

    Scans to follow

    great box!!!

  • OK, picked up my (first) case from my local guy earlier, one box in and here are my first impressions:

    - Fantastic looking base cards once again, the Russ Martin card is a thing of beauty
    - I agree with the observation that the A&G backs seem to be more plentiful, around the same number as the regular backs for me so far
    - 4 "relics" including a "game-used" skateboard piece (see mini-rant below)
    - Lots of subsets
    - [Open mini-rant] Topps seems to be really, really stretching the definition of "World's Champions" for the non baseball cards. I think I've pulled two different rugby players (neither of whom seem to have won any World Championship), an air guitarist (huh?), the hotdog guy (which was cool the first time around), someone who scored a perfect score in Pacman, a fisherman, an arm-wrestler, a sled-dog guy, and I'm sure there are more. Mark Spitz, absolutely a World Champion - great idea. Monet, Hickok, Tchaikovsky, Dickens, and Franklin - sure, neat cards of famous people. A skateboarder? That may be taking it too far. [Close mini-rant]
    - For probably the third (maybe more) set in a row, Torii Hunter's card is ridiculous, though this one isn't as downright goofy as his last Heritage card.

Great set, love the forum excitement, and I'm already looking forward to some trading...

As a newbie to the modern cards (and a now huge heritage fan), I am enjoying the scans. I'll be getting a few boxes shortly and will join in the fun as time allows (I'm swaped at work). Thanks to all for sharing, the Chesnut and Campanella have been my favorites so far, great stuff.
