Teaser for the night owls, re. my Sunday DIGS O' THE DAY™ outing...

I had a good day out.
The best find of the day can be associated with a US Mint location that is NOT Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, New Orleans, or Carson City.
That's all I'm saying for now.
I have pix uploaded now but still have to do the writeups.
Oh, yeah... one more thing...
There's a little bit of gold involved.

'Nother hint... the item in question is from the 19th century.
The date 1851 is involved.
(I'm lovin' this- too bad there ain't more people around to torture. LOL)
- Marcus Tullius Cicero, 106-43 BC
mintage 61K?
edit to say, this is not like your usual giveaway LM. I'm excited.
"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working" Pablo Picasso
I'll guess
Mint = Dahlonega
Coin = $1, but I am hoping for a $5
He is teasing for the Dahlonga mint
They did gold and the "D" mintmark.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I will guess Charlotte mint.

I'm almost done with the writeup for the 23rd now. I will probably post two stories in one, so it will be a long and rambling post, even by my standards.
I'm still at work until 7 AM, and it looks like work will intervene, meaning I won't be able to finish the writeup about the 30th (and my Mystery Find) tonight. So I'm afraid I'll have to keep y'all (and probably the morning crew) dangling for a bit longer.
I might as well milk this "teaser" thread for all it's worth.
When I get off, I will have been awake for more than 24 hours, so I might not get the story posted until after I've slept off my graveyard shift. But I'll post it by the afternoon or evening, I promise. If I am still lucid enough when I get home, I might TRY to post it this morning.
Oh, BTW, nobody has guessed what the find was (nor do I think anyone will)... but one person has gotten "warm".
I hate it when that happens.
And YET... none of the hints I've dropped above are outright falsehoods.
I did make a nice find, and the hints posted above are technically true.
Just maybe not quite in the way I so cruelly have led you to assume.
(I wish they were!)
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
<< <i>The best find of the day can be associated with a US Mint location that is NOT Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, New Orleans, or Carson City. >>
Note the wording: I said it was associated with a US Mint location.
Not necessarily made at the US Mint.
Or even necessarily made at one of those locations.
Just associated with a location that is or was a US Mint.
<< <i>There's a little bit of gold involved. >>
True enough, though it's a very little bit. I never said it was actually made out of gold. But it could have gold on it, maybe.
<< <i>The date 1851 is involved. >>
But only peripherally. Maybe it was something first authorized in 1851, or designed or patented that year?
<< <i>'Nother hint... the item in question is from the 19th century. >>
That one, at least, is unequivocally true.
Come to think of it, I have never even said it was a coin!
But it could be small and round and metallic, nonetheless.
I love the assumptions made so far (and wish they were true- maybe one day!).
But I am quite pleased with the find, even if it is not what everybody's been thinking.
One person posted the correct location the item is associated with.
I was gonna give away a "Swami" Good Luck token (not my dug one below, but a nondug piece that is a lighter brown).
BUT, seeing as how you're the "TavernTreasures" guy, I'll tell you what- I will send you the nice brass barrel tap I found on a Civil War campsite a few years back... IF I can find it again in all the clutter.
I'm no fool Rob.
waiting..........
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Sorry 'bout that.
Oh, it's official, now... Happy April Fool's Day!
No foolin'- I'll get the story posted as soon as I can.

Sweet...I look forward to reading it...
...Probably...
...in the morning.

Right now, I would settle for ANY gold coin. I haven't crossed that milestone yet. For many diggers, that is a once-in-a-career happening, if one is lucky.
One of my local hunting buddies, Steve Smith (aka "millennium" here) has been lucky enough to cross the golden threshold TWICE, with a 1781 Spanish escudo AND a 1907 US $10 Liberty, both found on the same site, oddly enough.
