Graduate of Columbia University with a B.S. in Pharmacy. After graduation joined the Regular Army where I was a platoon leader, moving on to become the Chief of Support Services for Darnell Army Hospital Fort Hood Texas. After leaving the Army I resumed my Pharmacy career with Thrifty Drug in Los Angeles, got married to a wonderful gal named Estelle and we have two sons named Andrew & Aaron. For the past 27 years I have been a member of the staff of a labor Union where I retired as Director of Collective Bargaining. I am currantly collecting Proof Washington Quarters & Proof Kennedy Half Dollars. I am the owner of the Jay Ross Collections. Regards, Bear
I guess that Mitch has convinced me to put in my 2 cents (Lincoln Memorial's) worth. I was avoiding doing so because I am currently unemployed and just mostly being a bum.
I took 3 years of automotive repair in college and became a state certified mechanic. I did restoration work for 17 years before I got injured in an auto accident and had to retire my hobby. I specialized in doing World of Wheels- Autorama restorations and won best in class with all 4 of my major restorations.
My full time job was about as blue collar as you could get. I worked in a large factory that built milling, drilling and tapping assembly lines for the big 3 auto companies. I did that for 14 years before I get laid off due to the company getting bought out by the Germans. I ran the entire shipping & Receiving dept as the highest non-white collar worker.
Then I started all over and learned how to run a Bridgeport and worked as a Machinest for another 5 years until I got laid off again due to downsizing. Due to my injuries I can no longer do the work that I spent all my time learning and am trying desperately to start over yet again. After reading all the degree's that everyone else has and all the military personel that we have on this thread I just felt like I did not belong on this thread and thus I did not respond. Mitch convinced me to do so because there just may be others who were afraid to respond because our names don't have all the degree titles to go with them.
I spent all my overtime money building my Former #1 Mint State Memorial Lincoln set and I was forced to sell it last year when I got wind of my impending layoff. I have begun rebuilding my set and hope to one day be back in the #1 position. Thanks to all who take the time to read all this boring stuff and Happy Hunting!

I guess, its time for me to finally take time to answer this thread. At this time I work for Fruit of the Loom running a compactor machine in their Rabun Gap Plant. Basically I pre-shrink the cloth prior to it being cut into T-shirts.
However this is far from my area of expertise. I originally attended Tech school after high school for mechanical design, using AutoCAD. I worked at this for 3 years and went into the Navy. Originally I entered in the Nuclear Engineering flied but had to switch to Gas Turbines. After my initial training I went to my first and only ship, DDG995 USS Scott. I mainly worked in the ships oil lab and also was in charge of the ships aviation fuel. While deployed to the Red Sea in January 1992, I was injured in an auto accident. I had a dislocated left hip, trauma to the chest, and a heck of a gash in my forehead. 3 days in Saudi Arabia, 2 weeks in Germany, and another week at Great Lakes Naval Hospital north of Chicago. I worked in the hospital, and finally ended up writing class material for the Gas Turbine A-school. I was medically discharged in January of 1993.
Then off to work as an Engineering Technician for an auto parts manufacturer. I tested products for defects, manufacturing defects, and had a great time. However, they decided to do away with my job after 1 year. Then I went to work at Caterpillar in Peoria Illinois. I work there as a Technical Illustrator and a Technical Writer. While there I attended Bradley University in the Manufacturing Engineering program. I met my current wife while attending school. She lived in Florida at the time. We actually met over the Internet.
I left Cat and moved with her to Northeast Georgia. We have been married for 3 years now and have never been happier. We have 3 horses, 4 dogs, tooooo many cats, fish, a fresh water eel, and an African Grey Parrot. I began to collect coins again just over a year ago. My wife, Valerie, works with horses and is also a potter. We are planning on building her a studio and kiln this summer.
It's been a wild strange trip, but so far well worth it. That's about it!
Computer programmer. I write Microsoft Windows software for a medical imaging company. We put medical images such as XRAYS, MRI and CAT scans onto computer screens.
I'm glad I wandered over here, this is a great thread!
Myself, I've been an Electronics Tech/Metrology Tech for most of my working life. I spent six years in the Navy learning my craft (80-86). I went to work for GTE (now Verizon) in 1988 and have been there every since. The calibration lab I work in is quite diverse. I get to work on everything from Physical/Dimensional measuring instruments to RF/Microwave instruments up to 50 GHz. Fiber Optics is also a specialty of mine. In addition to my technician functions, I provide Engineering and Sales support for our lab. We also do this mobile, so I spend a lot of time travelling throughout the great NW. It keeps me busy...

I was Born and raised in the mountains of North Idaho.
I Enlisted, US Army, in 1979 and have worked up to Chief Warrant Officer flying the Long Bow Apache attack helicopter, AH-64D model. Earned AA and BA "aeronautical management", in keeping with Job speciality. Lots of assignments, lots of education hands on over the years. 3 years Germany early 80's, two tours to South Korea up on the DMZ driving Cobra's AH-1F. I am a combat vet, I was up close and personal with the skinnies over in Somalia with the AH-1F. If you get a chance to see new realease of "Black-hawk Down", don't hesitate. When I went to flight school back in 89, I learned to fly in the UH-1 Huey, which was also known as the Iriquois. (All Army Aircraft are named after Native American Indians). The Huey fleet at Ft Rucker, AL then, were still all patched up from Vietnam, it was amazing.
For me, Coins started way back, Grandfathers influence, along with bottle collecting and gold prospecting. All have gotton me to where I am with the coins, but I have a funny feeling its going to last the rest of my days.(All three) If you ever get a chance to pan, sluice or dredge for raw gold, do it. There is nothing like being bit by the fever.
I am still going strong in the miltary. I do it now for the young sons and daughters joining and serving. I enjoy mentoring and leading. It scares the pants off of me thinking that I might retire from this biz, but I am starting to ache in the joints and can't get rid of the spare tire for some reason.."Hee, Hee".
If any of you are ever near FT Campbell, KY just lemme know and if I can get you on-post, I will show you the AH-64D Long Bow Apache up close and personal. You will be filled with pride and you will get to see where your tax dollars are being spent to defend the USA against any enemies, foreign or domestic, that threaten our way of life and the freedoms we enjoy. Give me plenty of lead time and I will make damn sure you get to see the "Big Rig".
Fort Cambell, KY is home of the largest air assault division in the world. Lots of us are deployed all over right now and we have had too many causualties already in this war against terrorism. One of our special ops units lost some brothers over in the Phillipeenes a few days ago, several have died over in the "stan". We have A-model Apaches over in Kandahar right now, all of this is in the news if you've been watching.
Good luck with your coin finds!
Later, Apache

Nice thread. Lots and lots of different folks with different backgrounds. Funny how you can have such divergent backgrounds and yet similar tastes.
Born and raised in the You Bet'cha state of Minnesota. Graduated in '95 with a grand B.S. in History from the great collegiate system in Wisconsin. Hit the job market ready to enlighten the world about the American Civil War only to find out such grandiose ideas in really don't pay the bills very well. I caught a break when I was able to convince someone I actually knew something about computers (who would have thought all those hours playing wolfenstein and doom would pay off) and jumped into the IT field. Presently I'm managing a sprawling network for one of the largest credit unions in Minnesota.
Collected coins from a wee little age from searching change with my grandpa. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction then pulling a wheaties from pocket change. Of course thats about all I have time for as I look toward the middle of October as my wedding approaches. I've learned in rather dramatic fashion that wedding center pieces are of far more international importance then the beautiful texas comms I wanted. She didn't take the joke well that I wanted to try and register at the local coin shop either.
I'm new to posting but have been a long time reader especially of anything to do with Ikes. I haven't put my Business Strike set on the Registry. Give me a few weeks and you'll see some folks dropping.
As for me, I've been in the Coast Guard since 1986, I've been stationed in Maui, Astoria, OR, Seattle, WA and Cleveland, OH. I am whats called a Marine Science Technician. We respond to oil and hazardous material spills, board foreign cargo and tank ships, inspect oil transfer facilities like refineries, inspect containers, work with a myriad of federal, state and local agencies on a vast array of Waterways Management projects and make coffee. Our brothers in Search and Recue have a motto: You have to go out but you don't have to come back. Meaning that they will spend all eneg=rgies possible to save someone's life. Ours is: You have to go out to lunch but you don't have to come back. This is in reference to our M-F 9-5 job I have. Basically, I'm a sand peep and will never get underway on a ship (we are the brightest and smartest group of Coasties you'll ever see). I've responded to the EXXON VALDEZ Spill and the NEW CARISSA Spill. I believe I've responded to just over 1,000 oil and hazardous material spills in my career. I'm currently working with the Washington State Senate and House on an Abandon/Derelict Vessel Law.
I graduated from Cleveland State University with a BA in Environmental Studies. I'm working on my Masters in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver. Since 9/11, We have been working about 250 hours a month. Homeland Defense has us completely tapped out. Before, Homeland Defense took up about 2% of our time. Now, it is over 60%. We only have 34,000 Active Duty Coasties around the nation. The New York Police Department is bigger than us. The US Army recruiting budget is larger than our whole budget. We have the 7th largest "Navy" and 11th largest "Air Force" in the world. But sadly, the Coast Guard fleet is the oldest fleet in the world. Quite a few of our cutters were commissioned during World War II. Since we don't work for DOD (Dept of Transportation), we get looked past. I encourage anyone who wants to join the military but actually train for a real world mission like Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Drug Enforcement, Enviromental Protection, Migrant INterdiction, Homeland Defense, Ice Breaking, fisheries, Aids to Navigation and Marine Mammal Protection to contact me. You sink'em, we save'em. We provide the biggest bang for your tax dollar. On average, we return $11 in saved property, lives and drugs seized for each tax dollar spent. No other government agency even comes close.
Personally, I'm married to a very understanding wife and an incredible 4 year old girl. I also work part-time at a coin shop. I've gone through well over 2,000 Mint sets and have found only a few Ikes worth submitting. So all you naysayers out there, Gem Ikes are not a dime a dozen.
I attended Midlands Technical College for Industrial Maintenance technology, why I'm still not sure. I have twenty years with the SC Dept. Of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division. Ten of those served in the communication section and the last ten years in the field protecting our Natural Resources, Enforcing Game, Fish and Boating Laws. I investigate/reconstruct or assist in the investigation of all hunting accidents and boating accidents in my district. Also assist in search and rescue, manhunts, etc. as requested by other Law Enforcement Agencies. Homeland security has also taken a great deal of our time patrolling waterplants, dams, etc.
My second hobby is fishing (that's where the rkfish comes from) Anyone ever in SC let me know and will find the fish.
Have a wonderful wife of ten and a half years and two sons one nine and the other six. (and they keep me busy)
My favorite coins to collect are the US Morgan & Peace Silver Dollars.
I graduated from Portland State University in 93' with a BFA in Painting. Found out that I didn't want to live the life of a struggling artist so I looked for something that would satisfy both creative and technical interests. Shorty after, I discovered industrial design and flew down to San Jose State University to complete a second bachelor program, earning a BSID in industrial design. The Silicon Valley treated me well with awesome internships and later, with excellent career opportunities in world-class design houses. I helped design Palm and Handspring pilots, computers, monitors, Ferrari accessories, servers, sport and medical products.....etc. (CosmicDebris - I use Alias 9.5, Rhino3D, Solidworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, etc...)
Eventually, being from a farm background, the country called me home and my wife and I returned to the Willamette Valley, Oregon where I currently freelance for consulting and corporate clients in the Portland metro area. (Looking to be an employee as soon as possible ) Now, I can get back to more important pursuits like fishing for salmon and steelhead, bass and trout. Ahhhhhhhh.....country life......can breathe again!
WOW! There are some really interesting and well spoken people here.
I was born the son of a poor ..............no, not really.
I dropped out of high school to bum around the country. I got my GED in '83. Worked as a construction laborer, framer, and carpenter. Fell in love with construction while building high-rises in Daytona Beach, FL. I followed construction work around the country for a few years after leaving Florida before pursing a BS in Construction Management, Oklahoma University, 1996 (GO SOONERS!) and earned my MS in Civil Engineering, Oklahoma State 1999 (There's a little Aggie in every Okie).
I currently work for a Engineering/Construction company in Oklahoma. Our clients include many Fortune 500's as well as the Navy, Airforce and Corp of Engineers. Our projects range from ammunitions plants/sites to chemical manufacturers to production lines. I estimate project costs, schedule and assist with contract managment and project accounting. For now I sit behind a desk in the home office as much as possible, so that I can spend more time with my family. A few years ago I met the woman of my dreams. I married her and adopted her twin boys (now 8 years old) and have a son born to me that turns 1 year old on 29 March. I am an assistant wrestling coach and a cubscout (Wolfcub) den-leader. Being a father is the greatest thing I've ever done!
I love to camp and hike and breath fresh air.
I ususally log on at lunch or in the late night hours after the day is over and have learned an amazing amount about collecting from the people on these boards.

I can quit collecting anytime I want to.....I just don't want to!
Great tread and want to keep it alive a little longer. I have a degree in finance with minor in accounting and economics. Can't stand being behind a desk all day so I became a general contractor in the Dallas area. I have built homes and light commercial for over 22 years.
This is a great thread. I've learned a lot from more experienced and knowledeable collectors and dealers here.
I started collecting as a Cub Scout in the 1970s, when I began sorting through change to press Lincoln cents into my first Whitman folder. But I really got hooked when the 1982 Washington commemorative half was released. I saved my money and gave it to my mom, who wrote the check to the U.S. Mint ($10.50 plus shipping).
I'm currently a law student, looking into a career in international law and securities law and finance. Specifically, I'm interested in securities and financial fraud and money laundering. More specifically, I'm interested in investigating and prosecuting those activities.
Another area that interests me is the law of the sea. It combines issues of international law, trade, rights and the environment, but also a bit of mystery and imagination.
Before law school, I was a newspaper reporter-turned-financial journalist, with a bacheror's in journalism and a master's in public administration.
My film career consists of about one second of screen time, waltzing across Grand Central Station in "The Fisher King." That scene took 16 hours, most of which was spent standing around, and for which non-union extras earned $65.
I'm the son of a retired police officer (We never use the word "Cop"). All of the college funds went to my older sister (She needed it. I didn't.) I worked my way through junior college and then two years at Western Illinois University borrowing the last hundred bucks from my Dad to finish.
Since graduating in '81, I've worked for two companies; the current one for the last 18 years. I started in sales. Eight jobs later I'm VP of Sales resonsible for leading the best team of salespeople and engineers in the field of specialty tools, fasteners and chemical systems for construction.
A week ago, I completed my set of 1936-42 proofs, cents thru halves. For the investor in me, I also pursue 20th Century key dates in grades high enough to warrant a picture in the auction catalog. For the collector in me, I'm learning about Civil War Tokens.
Hi Guy's! I'm fairly new to the PCGS Forum, and first time on the Registry Set forum. I can't believe all the various backgrounds of everyone here. I, like a couple of others, was a little reluctant to say anything as I havn't done much with my life (at least not what I wanted to do). Got kicked out of high school for being "pregnant" (back when that was NOT acceptable), and had a handsome looking young man (30yrs old now), then made a BIG mistake, and married the guy that got me pregnant After about 2yrs, I divorced him, and remarried when I was 23 yrs old, and had a "miracle baby girl-my husband was supposed to be sterile-oops:-), and she's in her last 2 quarters from her BS in Criminal Justice! (And for any of you young, good looking, and well mannered guys, she's single, beautiful AND SMART, with GPA of 3.98! :-) While my 2nd hubby and I were married I raced stock cars at the local race track for a yr or so (WOW, what a trip! LOVED it, but my hubby sold my car while I was at work one day after I nearly hit the wall in the last race (I made him nervous), then, unfortunately he was killed in a car accident just before my daughters 2nd birthday. And then met my third husband, went back to High School, and graduated with Honors, then after living together for about 12yrs, my Current husband and I got married in 1994. We had a farm in MI, were I spent most of my free time with my Arabian Stallion, trying to break him, before he broke me:-). While I was I was working as "you name it" flippin burgers, managing restraunts & small food store chains, then spent last 15 yrs as a bookeeper/billing clerk/loan officer, until 1999 when I had to leave, due to my disability (Dr's still not positive what's really wrong, but do have Fibromyalgia, and now looking into the possibility of RSD, MS, and a few other muscle diseases. Was bedridden for most of 2 yrs until last Aug when Dr finally put me on a decent pain med, but now has takin it away due to the lawsuits, and media hype about all the people dropping dead from abusing it (oxycontin). Trying Accupuncture now, and going thru even MORE tests! Right now I'm "missing my life", as I can no longer Fish, hunt, garden, ride horses, or even clean house, but am hoping someday, I'll be able to do these things again. We moved from MI to FL about 9 yrs ago, have a house, a grandson (who's in MI), and my 3 poodles. Upside is: When I can, I get on this forum, learn all I can learn about coin collecting, as my hubby and I have dabbled with it for 20yrs, but not real seriously until 2 yrs ago. I have my FIRST Registry Set JUST registered with PCGS, of Proof Silver Eagles, with a Grade of 69.00 (I'm only tied for 2nd place behind a 100 others :-) But REAL happy I made it anyway. I've made a couple of real nice friends on this forum, learned a LOT of things I NEVER knew, and when I get depressed, I like to read the boards because they usually do a good job of cheering me up. I want to personal thank all of you who have been SO nice to me since I've joined the Forum (you know who you are), it's met a lot to me. This thread was such a GREAT idea! Brings people a little closer, and with a little more understanding of their personal goals in life. Thanks Guys! Jackie aka: CrazyJack P.S. Yes, I'm a "girl"
Our Vets deserve the BEST! Upgrading: PCGS Registery "Lambert Collections" of; Wheat Lincolns, Sac's, and SAE's.
I am an immigrant whose parent escaped from Communist China in the late 1940's. My parents took me to this country in 1966 when I was very young. I find many things great and terrible about this country, but on the whole I am a very proud naturalized citizen.
I am a very curious person, and easily bored. In college, I dabbled in many academic disciplines. Ultimately, I earned a BA from Rutgers Univ, with majors in Mathematics (pure) and History (medieval European). My parents were language teachers, and my entire family is a polyglot one. I suppose this is where I get my fascination for languages.
Some time in college, I realized that I needed to earn money to pay for beer. (Text books be damned!) I discovered that I was good with computers, and through these long years I ended up on Wall St as a senior IT manager.
Consistent through these 3+ decades of my life are two things: my sense of curiosity, and my inherited sense of being a packrat. I suppose that is why I became a collector -- first of stamps and sports cards (Topps!), then of coins, currency, magazines and books.
Now, I am avid collector of just coins. I love getting neat things from pocket change (especially when I am abroad) or buying a nice circulated specimen just as much as saving to own a nice 1794 dollar or 1870-S dollar.
Finally, I wouldn't be me without mentioning that I think we humans should treat all other life forms more humanely. The better we treat other life forms will reflect positively on us as a species. And, should affect how we treat other people.
Professor of mathematics at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, since 1982. PhD in math, MS in math and MS in computer science. Grew up on a dairy farm in the Litchfield hills of Connecticut ... hence my icon ... where I was introduced to coin collecting by my grandfather, C.W. Hart, one of the most loved and admired men in the area. We share the middle name Whittlesey.
I have too many interests for my own good, including woodworking, flying (a wannabe), gardening, genealogy.
I'm a mathematics PhD student at UC Berkeley. I have a masters in math and bachelor's degrees in math, physics, and computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
I guess my statement from years ago at the top of the page, still is true. You guys have me beat by 12,000 miles with degree's and titles but I still Love Lincoln's!

Fantastic ThreadI am another Blue Collar Over the road Trucker, home on Heart recovery stent implant, my second one in the last 3 years. I own my own rig leased to a local company, so I can be home on weekends. I am a Vietnam Veteran. I had tow tours in SE Asia, 1 in Thailand, went straight to Nam from there no trip home in between. Missed seeing both of my brothers there at the same time I was in Thailand. I started collecting coins in 1964 as a teenager (while selling GRIT newspapers), but lost interest when I went into the USAF as a Security Police Officer. I got the coin collecting interest again in 1999 when my wife of 30 years bought me a Christmas Gift of a coin. I've done many jobs over the year since my military stint: Taxi Driver;local Cafe Chef;local Newspaper photographer;Sheriff's Jailer;meat carver at local Meat Processing Plant;fork lift operator at Boat manufacturer ( also pulled their Boats all over the US and Canada for 13 years until they pinked slipped all company drivers). We have raised two of our own children and at present are raising my 9 year old grandson whom we've had since a baby. I also have my Trucker buddy my 2 year old Sh(ee)tzu (Gordy) which has been a real companion for me out on the road. My most important and everlasting moment in my LIFE was my 1st day in country Vietnam, when I found Jesus Christ as my LORD and SAVIOR. I graduated from Roanoke College in 1995 with a BA degree (small private college in SW Virginia) and currently live with my wife in Annapolis, MD. I am the Dir. of Sales & Marketing for two different companies at this time. The first company, Power Component Systems, Inc., provides environmental construction services (i.e. asbestos removal, lead removal, mold remediation, interior demolition) throughout the mid-Atlantic region. PCS, Inc. Link The 2nd company, Thermal Science Technologies, provides products and services that restore the thermal efficiency of underground steam and hot water piping systems throughout the world. TST Link If any of you out there work with underground piping systems that are lacking insulation, we need to talk! I have only been a PCGS member for a little over a year and I have been having a blast building Lincoln Cent sets. These boards have brought me a wealth of information and I have made some great relationships along the way. I’m sure it only gets better with time. Very interesting thread here…thanks to Oreville for bringing it back to life!

I am a retired ( early !!) Mathematics and Careers teacher. I still do some supply teaching when required ( the money is useful for all those coins I need ). I live on the Isle of Man and this means most of my coin purchases are via Ebay or Auctions.
I graduated H.S. in 1980. Served in the Navy as an electrician for 4 years. I got married in 1986 the same year I joined the electrical union (IBEW local 164). I have been married almost 19 years now and have 4 sons ages 15, 12 and twin 7 year olds. I belong to the American Legion but am not as active as I would like to be. I became interested in coins in 1995 with the hype of the doubled die cent. It has become a hobby I share with my Dad a long time collector.
Hello from Rockford, Illinois which is right next to the Wisconsin state line about 100 miles west of Chicago!
I work with elderly people in nursing homes as a Licensed Practicle Nurse (L.P.N.) I have been doing this for 10 years now and was a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) for 5 years before I became a nurse. Before that I did nothing but play my Trumpet in college musicals, which is something that I miss.
Hello from the California central valley. I was born in Minnesota and grew up traveling the world with my Air Force father. Graduated from high school in Madrid Spain and the University of Arizona with a BS in accounting. Spent the middle four years of college, from 1966 to 1970 in the USAF with the last two at Camp Zama, Japan. Moved to Sacramento in 1974 and began my banking career. I am married with four children and one grandchild and another due in September. I am the CEO of a small community bank (www.ovcb.com) and have enjoyed collecting for many years. My son and I started with cards and as he lost interest I moved on to coins. My registry collections are listed as Martin's Collections and have been put together with the help of many board members. It is very interesting to see all of the different people who enjoy our hobby. Good luck to ALL! Ron
I'm not sure how I missed this earlier. Thanks to Wondercoin for a great idea and to Oreville for its most recent resurrection.
Born and raised in Oklahoma. Started collecting coins from circulation around 6 years old. My collecting went on hold when I went to College.
BA with double major in Math and Psychology from Williams College. MS and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from UCSD. Taught for a few years at Teachers College Columbia University; Senior Developmental Engineer at UCSB working with computers for a few years, independent computing consultant; Director of Educational Software and Technology at Smith College; and now CIO at Harvey Mudd College. I've bounced back and forth between the coasts a couple of times and prefer the College envronment.
I restarted my coin collecting in the mid 80's and have become more focused in the last few years - Now I only collect Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, cameo proof wheatback Lincolns, cameo proof Jeffersons, frosted 1936-42 proofs, and a few proof and MS years sets of special interest. And lately I've returned to my roots and collect early Oklahoma (including Indian Territory) tokens.
I have a lovely wife, and three children: son, age 11, and two daughters, ages 17 and 8. My youngest daughter and I share the same birthday!
I'm on line most the time which allows me to enjoy the many interesting and knowledgeable people that frequent this virtual world. Thanks.
Hello from Phoenix Arizona. I can't match many of the job descriptions in this thread. But I can pass on a very interesting story. On 1-29-1995 during Super Bowl 29,Publisher's Clearinghouse came to my front door and presented my mother with $10,000,000.00! Since I am the only child I was able to retire. I still count my blessings everyday and do not miss working. I collect Lincoln's and my registry sets all have the Wizard of Oz theme. You just may run into Dorothy,Toto,Tinman,Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion,Glinda, Wicked Witch,or the Munchkins as you scroll the registry sets. Many thanks to all my fellow collectors for creating this forum. I feel like I know you all personally and really do value all your imput. And always remember- your heart is not judged by how much you love but by how much you are loved by others.
Well here it goes, Retired US Marine (20 years, 4 days, 3 hours and 29 minutes) but who is counting. Obtained AA and BS in Business with emphasis in accounting/finance. I was an auditor for over 24 years and have in the past become the assistant financial officer of a road construction company. Like what I have done in the past and wish I could do it again. Collecting proof sets from the 1954 to current and have many registered sets, with the exception of one set all are average (JP Chandler sets). Like visiting the boards to see what is happening and have picked up some nice coins from those on this and other threads to complete my goal.
What a great thread and many thanks for resurrecting it. It is so interesting the wide spectrum of careers and yet we all have a passion for coins. My interest started very young (5 or 6) when I found an old coin in change. I have been collecting ever since.
My Career...
I completed one year at Castleton State College in Vermont and one year at the Culinary Institute of America (1979) before I was suspended for having a microwave, toaster oven, and refridgerator in my room. It was like boot camp in those days. At that point I was building a career in the food industry, Sous Chef, Banquet Chef, Executive Chef, GM, Multi-Unit Manager across 20 states. I just recently "retired" from Jamba Juice where I was a District Manager in San Diego area. Braddick and Wondercoin both live in the areas I managed.
Is anyone familiar with Jamba Juice??
I left Jamba in December, bought a house in Salem, Washington County, upstate New York. Salem, pop 2200, is in the deep country. I am enjoying the peaceful living, strong community ties, and involved in the church where I was baptized. Currently I am unemployed and need to start work soon. So I have to put my coin purchases on hold.
I may start an Ebay consignment business in the area. I also make the best darn cheese cake in the world, so I may start up in that area. Taking a course to get CDL for either driving trucks or school bus driver. Or I would get back into the restarurant business, however, not much available in my area. Right now I am selling off my extra raw coins for a bit of cash. Not sure just yet what I am going to do for a career.

Your making me blush. Thanks a million though.
(Now About That MS69RD?)
Played the trumpet in jazz bands for a few years.
Worked as store manager for Lafayette radio 78-80.

Two cats also.Have been collecting coins since age of 5.Other hobbies are Tennis, fast pitch Softball, ham radio...going to Curacau next week for a 48 hour ham contest.
Been in the Los Angeles area all my life.

Looking for Denmark 1874 20-Kroner. Please offer.

Eventually, being from a farm background, the country called me home and my wife and I returned to the Willamette Valley, Oregon where I currently freelance for consulting and corporate clients in the Portland metro area. (Looking to be an employee as soon as possible
Believe it or not, I make my living as a waiter. (Room Service in a Five-Diamond resort). My wife is also in the hospitality industry.

A week ago, I completed my set of 1936-42 proofs, cents thru halves. For the investor in me, I also pursue 20th Century key dates in grades high enough to warrant a picture in the auction catalog. For the collector in me, I'm learning about Civil War Tokens.

Got kicked out of high school for being "pregnant" (back when that was NOT acceptable), and had a handsome looking young man (30yrs old now), then made a BIG mistake, and married the guy that got me pregnant

<< <i>Hello from Phoenix Arizona. I can't match many of the job descriptions in this thread. But I can pass on a very interesting story. On 1-29-1995 during Super Bowl 29,Publisher's Clearinghouse came to my front
door and presented my mother with $10,000,000.00! Since I am the only child I was able to retire. I still
count my blessings everyday and do not miss working. I collect Lincoln's and my registry sets all have the
Wizard of Oz theme. You just may run into Dorothy,Toto,Tinman,Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion,Glinda, Wicked Witch,or the Munchkins as you scroll the registry sets. Many thanks to all my fellow collectors for creating
this forum. I feel like I know you all personally and really do value all your imput. And always remember-
your heart is not judged by how much you love but by how much you are loved by others.
