Robec's photographic handiwork, part II

Here is a raw DMPL/PL Morgan that I picked up from my local coin club meeting recently, and Bob captured it's attributes nicely! The pictures show slightly different light angles, which gives the coin a slightly different look. I like it!
I'm thinking about having this one graded, but since Morgans are not "my bag", I don't know what grade it would come back with. In looking at comparable pictures on Heritage, et cetera, i'm thinking maybe MS64 and either DMPL or PL? we'll see!

<< <i>Very nice...looks MS64 and can't tell for sure, but it also looks like it'll go DMPL.
thanks, coming from you knowing your speciality, that gives me confidence!
I read in Bowers' Morgan dollar book that these 1885-O DMPLs are scarcely found with great contrast between the fields and devices like this one seems to have, anyone know why? just curious

It just so happens I have an 1885-O in NGC MS63DPL sitting in front of me right now. It has very deep mirrors (not to mention it's red/blue rim toned on both sides
<< <i>Don't send it in on my word alone...mirrors and contrast are often difficult to judge from an image and while it does look DMPL to me it probably looks different in hand. I will say though that from what I can see the cheek is very clean and it appears as though the obverse has nice contrast. Judging from the images though, I'd say it's a definite MS64PL/DMPL (depending on mirrors/contrast in hand) and has a shot at MS65PL/DMPL (depending on mirrors/contrast in hand).

thanks, good to know!
