Wow, i wanted to bid but it has gone a little overboard. would PSA even list this with a grade or is it cut too close to the lines in some parts??

Nice card, one that IMO PSA would grade as enough of the dotted lines show.

The question is why would anyone want it graded/crossed now as it is in a 96 holder.

    Registry?

I would not try to cross it over if I had it, it is nice the way it is. I wonder how much it will sell for..my guess is $3,400

Cross overs usually go the other way.

But it should also be an SGC-A
All handcut cards with sharp corners should get an "A", there is no way in heck that card was cut back in 1969.

    Like a Starting Lineup.

It was on the back of a box that had a plastic toy player inside. They came in single or multi player boxes.

Why would the card have to be cut back in 69? I am missing your logic here?

Me too. I miss that logic. It doesn't matter when it was cut as long as the PSA
standard is met. It could be trimmed 5x as long as those dots can be seen, that is all that
    matters to PSA.

I am keeping my box uncut, I have two cut ones two. I love this card for some reason

    I like the card, too.

BUT, for the same money I would prefer a commodity Mantle-card
that is likely to remain more liquid as time passes.

    good call on that storm.

if i owned a card like that, i may have to test the open market waters.

    or

you could invest it all in joba chamberlin RCs.

I predicted it would sell for $3,400 and it sold for $3,600, pretty close guess!

KingsBee - where did you pick that up? Was the Transogram yours growing up?

By this example.......Anyone can buy an oversized W strip card, cereal, or candy box card and clean it up by recutting it with razor sharp corner and have it graded MINT. These should all get "A" grades IMO. The only handcut cards that should get a number is one that has an obvious vintage cut with edges completely original.

This card was recently cut from box or retrimmed.

Both PSA and SGC are all over the place in grading handcut cards, sometime they grade them all with A's and sometimes with numbers, they need to be consistent.

Thought I would share the card I picked up from the same seller tonight. Fortunately the price was considerably less than Mantle.

I don't think it matters to most collector's "when" a card is cut as long as it was cut properly. There is no way to accurately tell when a card was cut out. If a 1960's post card was cut in the 80's and had 20 years of wear on the edges do you really think that can be discerend from a 70's or 60's cut card? Since all hand cut cards are altered in some way from their "original" state I see no issues.
