Which Seated Half do you like part 2

It's very interesting to see what catches people's eye. I was very surprised by the last "voting." Which coin would you rather own? Also please give your reasons (no matter how subjective) for your choice. I think this is interesting!

Joe, I really like the look of both, for different reasons. Both appear original, and if I was to select one or the other it would be difficult. The 69 is the more difficult piece, but the 77s is in better condition. The 77s also has a better strike, and appears to have better luster and probably has very pleasing color.

  • I like the look of the 69, except for the gunk on the reverse shield. The picture makes the 77 look kind of dull and lifeless. I would have to see the coins in hand to make a decision.

The 1869 has a nicer, more appealing and original look to me.

SilverEagle ... based on the grain, I think the 77s is a scan, where the 69 appears to be a photo ... I think the 77s would probably have better "pop" in hand ... but I agree, in hand is the best way to make the decision.

    Two more questions:

    1. Is the black toning on the reverse of the 1869 a deal breaker for you?

    2. Which coin would you be willing to pay more for?

I'm drawn more to the looks of the 77-s, as the spot on the reverse is the first thing my eye catches.

Yet all in all both coins are nice and the spot isn't a major issue.

For a type selection... I'd buy the 77-s instantly over the other!

That dark spot on the reverse is distracting have to go for the 77-S.

As nice as the 69 looks, I don't like the black patch on the shield, so I'd opt for the more common 77-S image

They're both beautiful Halves. My choice is the WB-102 1877-S.

Easy one for me, the 1869.

I like the more uniform and crusty surfaces of the 1869 with luster peering through.

The rev fields of 1877-s appear too light in contrast to the surroundings. Based on that I would expect to find some signs of a
previous cleaning....at least based on what I see in the photos.

    Both are decent coins though.
