My Father passed 3/27/08

My Father who got me into this hobby passed away yesterday at the age of 75. He left a wife of 51 years, 5 children of which I am the youngest, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He worked in a steel mill for over 35 years, and was forced to retire in 1988 of a heart attack. Luckily for us we got many more years of him to enjoy, share and learn. He was a great man that I respected and hope I can be as loving and giving of a father as he was. When we started talking a few years ago about coins I joked at him and said you paid how much for what? LOL How things change. I am glad I got into this hobby, and even more satisfied that I got to share a few years closer to him doing something together.
I am sad that he was not with any family when he died. He went to the grocery store for the everyday needs and fell to the ground at the supermarket by himself. I am happy that he went quickly, and did not suffer long. We buried his mother at the age of 94 last summer.
He will be greatly missed!

It sounds like your father was a great man, with a wonderful family, who had a good life on earth. My condolences to you and your family. My mother passes away a few years ago and I miss her the same every day. In fact her picture and a candle are right here on my book shelf. The missing part will never be easy, but the comfort comes from knowing that our loved ones are in a better place now, and always looking down on us.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
Please extend heartfelt condolences from this part of the world to that ; where your loved ones gather in the coming days.
Sincerely,
Joe

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
