  • I am working on a Topps HOF sample set from 1952-1992. One PSA graded HOFer per year. Its not for the any registry, but its been a lot of fun. Its been tough picking just one card per year, and deciding who is in or out. I have 1952, 55, 65, 72, 73, 74, and 87-90 left. I pretty much have guys earmarked for each year, just been watching the bay for good deals, and sending in stuff for 87-90. I have really enjoyed doing this, I am toying with getting some type of display for this when I am done. When I am done I will post the results on a thread!

Geez, I really need to pull up some old threads and see what my goals are for this year.

Allen and Ginter is priority one in modern set building.

Always looking to advance my Thomas rookie and minor league set, I'd love to knock it out this year with straight 10s if possible (in all but the NNOF and '87 Auburn). I have pretty much everything in 9 or better. Missing less than 10 cards now I guess. Need a good many upgrades to 10 if at all posible.

I've actually started purchasing Clemente cards lately. I don't really know why, but the guy was just well rounded, as a player and a man.

I really want to work on my Flags of all Nations set, N9.

I've started Heritage '08. I want to finish the basic/sp and black backs at a minimum. Also the Flashbacks, News FBs. T&Ns, t205, Perez, and NAPs insert sets. I really need to take the time to get organized with that though. I've been on the road a lot with work though.

I dunno. I need to see what I said 4 months ago.

Two random sets - '79 OPC and '84 OPC baseball sets. Both sets are anchored by the rookie card of one of my favorites - Ozzie & Mattingly.

  • I'm working on Topps baseball sets. All raw but when the time comes I'll probably go for graded on some of the keys that I don't already have. A couple weeks ago I finally picked up a nice Red's team card to complete my 76 set. I am down to needing a centered Ryan/Seaver KO leaders to finish the 74 set. 75 I completed in the mid eighties. As for 73 I am down to five high numbers all fairly common. And here is the low down on the others that I am working on:

1972 - At 83% - Most of what I need are high numbers.
    1971 - At 93% - Mostly high numbers needed.
1970 - At 90% - Once again mostly high numbers needed
1969 - At 94% - I still need to get a Reggie rookie which will definitely be graded.
    1968 - At 92% - Need mostly stars
1967 - At 40% - Just started working on this in the past year
1966 - At 27% - Just started on this in the past year too
1965 - at 35% - Once again just started on this in the past year

If you can tell I am going in reverse. I'd like to keep going year by year but as I get into costlier years I'll have to use what kind of lots I pick up as a determining factor in what years to pursue.

Also I am always working on my Pirates team sets. Right now I am focused on the fifties and early sixties with those.

In the future I may start a modern hall of famer or hall of famer to be collection. I stopped collecting modern in the mid nineties so I have some catching up to do with those.

I have been working on 1955 Topps Baseball for nearly 20 years. I need only 14 more cards to complete in PSA. I do have these cards in ragged, filler condition. (actually they are not that nice) Condition of PSA cards is all over the place, from PSA 3 to several PSA 8s. I had a PSA 9 but sold it a couple years ago and replaced with an 8. When I complete in PSA I will upgrade what I can.
I am also working on 1960 Topps Baseball. I have over half in PSA 8 with entire set at about 70%. The low-pop commons are beginning to be a problem, I will probably have to purchase them in 7.
I also have PSA cards from 1950 - 1963. When I stumble upon a good deal I pick up a few, but 1955 is my immediate goal, followed by 1960.

Trying to finish up 08 Heritage which will be my second year completed. Last year was my first year for Heritage so I'd like to complete 01-06. Maybe knock a couple of those out this year? I bought a couple starter lots of 01 & 04 so I guess those two are the current focus.

I've also got a Topps set run from 81-92 that I'm working to bring current. Then I'll start working backwards from 80. Mostly I'm just buying complete sets but I think I'm going to try and build everything 80 & older. I've all ready started on building a 75 set.

Ultimate goals are a complete Topps run, Heritage run, perhaps a 70's complete graded set, and the HOF Post War Rookies Registry Set.
