Recommendation for a Detector

I would like suggestions for a mid price range detector (brand and model) that would mainly be used on the beach. Hopefully finding rings, coins and that type of stuff. I know nothing about this, but my wife wants to buy me one and I don't want her to buy a piece of junk. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I'm not LM...but the Garrett ACE 250, is one heck of a machine for the money...

I hear the 250 is OK on sand but you might want to get a machine thats waterproof and set for beach hunting like a Tesoro sand shark.
