  • They remind me of a thread about a year or less ago. A fellow reported he and his family inherited a large collection from their grandfather. It had some early proof sets and other goodies but was mostly tons of neat commems. He posted many photos here on one or two threads.

This seller has been discussed ad nauseum on these boards and the board members who have purchased (over)priced coins from him have been far from universally happy.

Oops! Didn't know this guy has been brought up before. The auctions seemed a little less than on the level. Thanks to all who posted comments and insight.

he takes pics that are deceptive. makes the coin look better then
    it really is.

if you think it is a 66, in your mind knock it down 3 points and that
    is probably what it is.

mtc3015 has a 554/100% rating and his DSRs are pretty high as well. If you check on toolhaus, he has 3 neutrals from 3 people 6 months and older and 3 negs from a single person. One of the people that gave him a neutral is centsles!

Will the new eBay feedback rules change this?

I don't know if this seller has been discussed, nor do I care ... but a look through 5 pictures is enough for me. Every coin was proceesed, and probably shot at it's most flattering angle

“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

I still cannot figure out why this seller gets such strong money for his dipped out crap. There are other sellers like this (like ebay seller "hsturn"), but they do not get near as strong money as this "mtc" chump.

If the coins were really as nice as depicted,

they would have been slabbed as very high grade.

No slab, no return, no accurate grading, means... NO BID

    BY ME.

  • Here's a previous thread regarding this seller, mtc3015:

    mtc3015

edited to add: In the previously anaylzed purchases from some forum members here, it appears that bidders would spend less and get nicer coins by purchasing PCGS or NGC graded coins. In almost all cases, the winning bidder greatly overpaid when the coin was finally viewed in hand.

Those older threads are very informative.

He certainly knows how to sell ... and doesn't even need third-world slabs.

Those envelopes probably help generate interest.

I cannot believe the crazy bidders this seller attracts.image
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
  • I was checking out some of those, and the money is freakin' NUTZ for raw, no return policy coins. As I scrolled they listings (looking for something to spend my coupon on), then noticed the sellers name, remembered the threads, and said 'bye bye' to his listings.
