Got one of the new $5s in change last night.

Actually, I got 3 of them. From a WalMart self-checkout no less!
The note doesn't even look real, it looks like monopoly money with the big purple 5 on the back. I like it, though. The watermark was also changed from being Lincoln on the old bills to just a big 5 on these new ones.
How many of you have gotten these yet? What was your initial impression of them?

That purple five really jumps out at you.
Was over served and still seen it..................

I think the paper feels too thin and smooth. It almost seems like regular "xerox" paper rather than the cotton fiber that it should be. I wonder if the manufacturer changed the process of how the paper is finished or something. It still looks like cotton and has the red/green fibers in it, but just too smooth and thin.
<< <i>I like them, mainly because the addition of colour adds some spice. I like all the colourized bills.

Perhaps the one you had was actually from a xerox machine?

<< <i>what were the serial numbers? Low? >>
Actually, no. I was surprised when I first saw it, the serial number started with a 5 inctead of a 1 or a 0.

One was already beat up pretty bad.
I really didn't give them too much notice, probably still have a couple in my wallet.
The big purple 5 is kind of interesting. Good for those who need reading glasses, I suppose.
