Some additional history that folks might find interesting.....
Mayor - Scott was the recipient of the first 1938 New Rochelle half dollar, the 2nd half dollar was presented to William S. Dewey of Mount Vernon, president of the Westchester County Coin Club... coins were presented by Jere Milleman, former county treasurer, who is secretary of the committee.
Ernest H. Watson, treasure, in presenting Mayor Scott with the commemorative coin, outlined the history of New Rochelleand plans for the 250 th Birthday Celebration.
Mr. Milleman then placed the commemorative half - dollars on sale, and many of the club embers contracted to acquire them at $2 each

Interesting that Julius Guttag, New Rochelle suggested that 10% ($25,000) be set aside from the proceeds of the sale to build a museum to perpetuate coin and stamp collections.
From the 16th to the 18th century the name Huguenot was applied to a member of the Protestant Reformed Church of France, historically known as the French Calvinists.
