Do women find card collectors sexy?

OK, here's a half way serious topic of discussion. What do females think of men that collect cards? I had a girlfriend once that thought card collecting was for geeks. However, her opinion changed when she found out how much some of my cards were worth. One minute she thought it was geeky but when she found out the cards were worth some serious cash she did a 180 degree turn. Women love money, LOL!

These guys used to beat the babes off with a stick!
can I get a stick memorabila card from those guys ?
Most of the girls I was seriously interested in after college didn't mind my hobbies, no matter how geeky they were.

LOL. You know considering other hobbies a man can have - drinking, gambling, drugs, smoking, and womanizing - collecting sports cards is pretty innocuous.
Of course I'm sure there are some here that do all or most of the above...
<< <i>When my wife and I got married, I was big into model cars. I've kind of quit that and gotten back into baseball cards. She prefers cards over model cars because they take up less room. >>
Yes and no.
Wait till you've been collecting for over 30 yrs - I've taken over the front den - our walk in closet looks like a cardstore storage room and I've been eyeballing the living room!
I've also got my wife convinced to let me hang memorabilia in the gym I made for her!
Wait till I take the pics! It's gonna be cool!

i don't mean to boast, but i was the only guy that had 89 upper deck at the show. kids were pulling griffey's and there was a guy setup buying every one they pulled for $3 a pop (later found out he was a major card schemer in this area) and they'd come right back and buy more.
i sold 2 complete foil cases at one show....it was incredible. my wife gave me the "OK" from that point forward to buying/collecting cards. if i would have only kept all of those griffeys...of course at that time, i didn't know who he was other than the fact some guy was buying them at $3 a pop.
Thanks,

As a young teenager, I overheard a chick's father complaining that
my hair was too long "to ever get a job."
I knew that I was destined for great success in ALL endeavors
when the princess replied, "His stamp collection is worth more than
our whole house."
Collectors have a sense of "history and beauty." This makes them
appear sensitive to chicks.
Collectors also hone their negotiating skills at an early age. This
is very useful in dealing with Sheilas.
But mostly, women LOVE money. Show me a guy with stamps, coins,
currency and cards in his showcases, and I'll show you a guy with
lots of money in his pockets.
Do they think I am sexy? I dunno. I never inquire. I just say "next,"
if one of them cannot get with the program.
Reminds me of the Family Guy episode with the "Jewish Porno" "I own 4 apartment buildings" "ohhhhhhh"

Yep...don't even try to convince them how cool it is to collect cards...just talk about the value. LOL
<< <i>I guess when you're young and dating it could be awkward. I'm happily married with kids. My wife likes to see me happy, so in turn she doesn't mind my collecting. Of course she loves me so that helps She actually spends hours listening to me ramble on while I try to explain to her which card I am searching for next lol She's a great sport and I love her for it. >>
Well said, I'm in the exact same boat.

packs though . she gets excited if she pulls a good card . shes a real good sport about it . i even got

Let's see that hair! Got a pick? Maybe we should start a thread - "how many hippies out there?"
<< <i>What's a woman? >>
In your case, that thing connected to your arm.
Comic Book Guy was once married.....in an online role playing game. Hahaha...
If it gets to that, not good. If you bring a girl over and all she sees are your action figures or cards....not good (like Steve Carrol's action figure collection in 40 year old virgin...).
As long as you have...
-Deodorant
-A clean place
-Clean clothes
-Some cash in your wallet (not pogs or power crystals)
-Reasonable social skills
You should be ok.
Speaking of sad collector stereotypes, does anyone watch Beauty and the Geek? Some of those guys are honestly sad to watch. They'd give Comic Book Guy and Prof Frink a run for there money in the womanless department....
Which reminds me of the one of the lessons I have learned......space rockets do not fit through doorways.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
Card collecting was geeky but Rube has changed all that for us, he's become like a rock star on here with many groupies and fans flocking for an autograph and just wishing they could touch him. We all remember the icon fiasco.
Hoarding silver and collecting history
There is little question that the vast majority of the population (women and men) think baseball card collectors are geeks. If you doubt that then you live in a shell. However, people that are not geeks are comfortable having one or two geeky hobbies.
I should add that though I am comfortable with my hobbies when I was young, single and prowling the bar scene my baseball card collection was NOT one of the topics I brought up. The recipe for easy success at a bar includes, "I am a lawyer," "look at my Rolex," etc... and NOT "hey, I got a beautiful '68 Carew in the mail today from a recent Ebay purchase!"
Lets call it a little "eccentric"
Some women like eccentric. E.g. those who would choose Johnny Depp over Brad Pitt.
Luckily I'm dead sexy to boot, but the first time my now wife visited my parents house when I was in college, sat there and watched me sort a monster box of early 90's football. I also remember telling her she'd get a laugh of the picture on the 1991 Topps Jeff McKnight card if I could find it.
Fortunately for our children she has a sense of humor.

If any woman called me a geek for collecting, I'd throw them out of my bedroom and tell them to come back when they are perfect and look like a supermodel. Collectors must ban together and SACK UP when it's called for!

As far as being sexy, I don't think I am anyway, so it really doesn't matter. Though, I suppose you could be depending on who you are.
"Let's go back to my place. There's something there that I want to slowly and carefully pick up and place on the bed where I'll ever so gently undress as I burn with eager anticipation for what might be underneath. I can do it all night long, too. Unopened '63 Fleer box just arrived from BBC, yeah! Let's get rippin'!"
"Babe, your hair shines like a PSA 10, and your eyes twinkle like those pesky snowy print dots found on 1970's Topps material, most notably '76."
"If you ask me whether I could go back in time to 1952 to buy up as much '52 Topps as I could, OR spend an incredible evening alone with you, the answer would be so easy. What series would be in the stores when I went back?"
"I don't want to sleep with you, but I do like to lie naked on my bed with a gal and ponder longingly as to just what in the heck the word "Donruss" means. I mean, hey, it's such a stupid name to begin with, and to think that somebody would actually use that as the name of their card company is really odd, you know? Hey, come back! I'll let you reach in my grab bag!"
I know it's just a checklist, but LOOK it is a PSA 8!
Lionel Carter - one of the biggest collectors of all time.
Gave a speech to collectors and opened with: "what's wrong? Haven't ya ever seen what Tom Selleck looks like on his DAY OFF!"
