Roadkill gold

I found this ring several years ago while walking along a highway. It had been run over pretty good and the bottom part of the ring was smashed against the mount. It looked like costume jewelry. I had tried to see if I could see any markings but couldn't find anything that showed. I put it in a drawer and forgot about. We moved and today my wife handed me a bag of my packrat stuff and said to look at it an try to get rid of it. I looked at this ring again and put it in a vice to see if I could unbend it enough to see if their were any markings. YES!!! It said 10K. There is a cluster of small diamonds 1/4 in. by 3/8 in. in the mount. I'll be taking this to a jeweler to get their take on it. I guess it pays to not throw everything away or I should have put it in the vice in the first place.

  • WTG Bob! There's some real cheesy looking or smashed up jewelry out there that is valuable. Hit the garage sales. People are always unloading low karat gold and silver jewelry for next to nothing. They don't know what they have. Or they just want to make a buck without argument.
