Beach hunting in San Francisco

I've heard horror stories that they're really, really strict about not allowing metal detectors on the beaches! I wanted to drop by the ruins of the bathhouse that used to be right on the ocean, but I don't wanna have my CZ-3D swiped from me by the heat. Has anyone beach hunted in Bay Area? What happened?

Is it a public beach or a state park beach? That would make a lot of difference.... public beaches usually are not controlled. I would check your state code and local ordinances. Cheers, RickO
  • the beach near golden gate park is off limits. there's another one too, but i don't remember the name. you can always detect the park.
