In the NCAA tournament do you think there will ever be.....

in Sports Talk
A #16 seed upsetting a #1 seed? These matchups are regarded as little more than a tune up game for the #1's but I guess anything
could happen.
could happen.

Maybe not this year or next, but some day it will happen.
<< <i>Can't remember the exact year (1990 or 1991), but I sat in Knoxville, TN and watched #16 seed Murray State (with Popeye Jones) take my #1 seeded MSU Spartans to overtime before the Spartans finally won. It will happen someday. >>
1990 to be exact. Murray State isn't too far away from here either.

I suspect that one day a #16 will beat a #1. That would trump the current best upset. A #15 has beaten a #2, at least once, and maybe more than once.
<< <i>I remember when #16 Princeton almost beat #1 Georgetown. Princeton was probably seeded too low, however. There have been a few #15s beating #2s. >>
Forget almost beat; Princeton did beat the defending champ UCLA in 1996. That's considered right up there with the big upset stories of NCAA Tournament lore.
