Who is best to sell Gold Nuggets to?

VTCoinsVTCoins Posts: 1,361 ✭✭✭
Hey guys!

I just bought some gold nuggets from a local customer. Some he panned for here in VT and others from CA and AZ (I think).

Who is the best person to sell these nuggets to? What is the best web site to determine values?

Thanks for the help!

The largest is 3.3 grams. The majority are significantly smaller.

Tim, I do not know... I have a couple at 7+ grams and 5 grams.... but have no idea - I had heard that jewelers may tend to pay melt+ to use in jewelry in their raw form.. but have not tried it. Cheers, RickO

  • Gold in VT?

Any idea how large the biggest Vermont piece is?

Sell them on the forum---I might be a buyer.

  • Kitco will buy bullion and scrap metals, however they say they don't deal with individuals. I haven't gotten around to seeing if there's a work around to this yet.

They have US and Canadian offices too.

  • Don't sell to a scrapper. Sell to a nugget collector. THe price difference will be substantial.

Yup. There is gold in these hills. I may sell them on the BST (though I am not real sure how to price them).

I was hoping to sell them as nuggets rather than melt them down.

I have a collector coming in next week, but I wasn't sure what to charge him. If anyone knows any good web sites with pricing, let me know.

  • Back when I lived in Oregon and was doing alot of gold prospecting ,,I had a standing order from a gold smith,,He would pay spot + 20 percent for any nuggets I would bring in .

By the way Tim,, Nuggets above half ounce you can get way more for !! 3 or more times weight value .

your best market is to the Jewelry makers (Goldsmiths) or nugget collectors .
