Got A-Rod, McGuire, Frank Thomas, Griffy Jr Rookies

My Uncle gave me a whole binder of 80's and 90's garbage. I noticed there were a few RC's of the aforementioned players in there. And these things are in pretty good shape! Mostly 8-9 matierial but there might be a few gems in here.

Are any of these cards worth anything in high grade?

If you need close-ups of any one card, let me know, I've got the binder right here.

Swartzie Im not fueling anything, all nite long the guy Pm'd me whining about this and that, finally I thought
he and I had a truce and he tells me to play in traffic, then I specifically did not reply to this thread (I only looked at the cards)
and see that he had to put my name into the middle of this.

I truly think he has me confused with someone else, this has gotten out of control now.

When he had his first meltdown he accused me of ganging up on him and I had never even replied to any of his

I didnt take offense to your reply.

Most of the binder was crap, that's what I meant by garbage. These cards might have been good, but I wasnt sure, that's why I asked.

collectors . I do have to admit though that sometimes it seems like we have a bunch of children in this place . I love it

Those are great cards. They defined what I would call the most popular era of baseball card collecting.

Alan - some of that stuff was from the big 'boom' of selling and production in the card industry and is so over-produced that's it's just impossible to sell - even in high grade - my intuition tells me that even a 10 may not sell for the price of grading except maybe Griffey RC.

McGwire? I've got a boatload of his and Bonds' cards - I opened a ton of wax back then for fun. Never gonna be popular as before the scandal.

It's nice that your uncle gave them to ya - I would probably just thank him graciously and neatly stack them in the closet for about 30 yrs - who knows?

BTW - back around 1992 or 3? The industry sold almost a Billion dollars in product. Now it's more like in the 400 million range if memory serves. They'll probably never see anything like that again. I think it may have partly been a baby boom phenomenon - and that ship's sailed. Name? Titanic. Sunk to the bottom of the sea forever!
