EBAY AUCTION 270218184343

Three graders and a reviewer graded this card. I would not give the card a 7. How does that card leave Newport Beach like that.
If someone can post a link that would be cool. Thanks.

Your link doesn't work either Nick!!!
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Ouch. Even with perfect corners, that a 9OC or a 7 Max.

    RIP GURU
  • this guy is a SCAM ARTIST. The flips are not authentic - the font used on them is not used on any legit PSA flip. This guy's auctions were outed over on Net54 a few weeks back. Another tip-off is that the bar codes on a bunch of the flips are exactly the same. Pretty similar to a recent craigslist scam.

fake psa slabs being offered all over the place on craigslist.

Note the identical bar codes on 2 of the other cards they were selling

  • Looks like a PSA 6.5 to me.

Interesting that the Cobb T206 was sold on the 6th and is available again. Same card and the previous buyer at $2400 has a very solid feedback.

Definitely auctions that I'd be hesitant about, especially considering the method of payment demands.

Not sure what the policy is about linking to net54 but here's a thread well worth reading about this seller and his cards

  • Look guys, Craigslist is no place to buy cards period!

Anybody knows that the place to buy cards is ebay, and on these boards from trusted members, why take a change? The only think I can think of is greed.

If you buy cards on Craigslist, your asking for trouble, just don't take the chance. Chances are that people who would have some old Baseball cards wouldn't know how to use Craigslist, because if they did, trust me they would know about ebay before they did Craigslist, so save yourself time and money and stay away from that place.

Gio, if I hadn't said craigslist would you have known the cards on ebay were the same ones? You have to be careful everywhere and if the deal is too good it's too good for a reason!

  • And people on here wonder why I've been saying that PSA needs to make their flips more difficult to forge?

Plenty of inexperienced buyers would be fooled by that flip. It even looked ok to me at first glance...it wasn't until I looked at it carefully that it became obvious it was a forgery.

Also shows how easily people can be fooled by Ebay's feedback system. He's got 100% feedback, but it's not until you actually click into his profile that you realize that all his feedback is as a buyer. Ebay should separate buyer and seller feeback so that unscrupulous sellers like this guy cannot build their feedback profile up buy making lots of buys.

lol, i'm not sure what you mean, but yeah, everybody should watch out for ebay too, but ebay is much safer sompared to cragslist anyday.

jim and fastball thats what makes these boards so good..being able to let others know who these scammers are as i am sure someone will get taken by this guy...psa needs to try and do something with their flips as this is getting to be a bigger problem...image

I'd say that's a hijacked account - looks like the it's somebody's buying account that hasn't been used in a while. And with the payment methods even make it look that way
  • jimq112jimq112 Posts: 3,511 ✭✭✭
I contacted the winning bidder on one of the cards, hopefully he hasn't paid yet. It's only $150 but still that's a lot of $ for a fake

  • for me, besides the bogus grade lol
was the seller terms....deposit the money in my bank account directly lol.

When I sell on ebay, I have the buyer put the cash in a brown paper bag and leave it under a park bench at 2am. Only three of my buyers have been killed so far, but they can't leave me negs so no loss really.

Here we go again with this kid talking about things he knows nothing about. I've made a number of purchases of raw cards on craigslist and have had great success. The 1978 Topps Paul Molitor / Alan Trammell rookie that I bought for $25 graded a PSA 9 and sold for over $400. The lot of 1955 Red Man cards I bought all graded well (one 5, 2 7's and an 8) and sold for a great profit. The trick with craigslist is knowing what you're doing.

Of course, if you're a novice like Gio, stick with feebay.

I agree, but buyer beware...and buy the card, not the holder. If someone buys that as an 8 - for 8 money - they're asking to be cheated.

You got lucky, nobody said that you can't get lucky anywhere, sure you can, but theres a great chance of fraud out there. Anyway, I was talking about those to good to be true cards that are worth thousands, not 100's of dollars.

Anyway, just trying to help, but if you want to keep buying there than good luck and hope you don't get ripped off image
