A beautiful Roosie - and IF - (BIG if) - it's an MS68FB (pop 5/0), then it's also pretty rare, too. But is it an MS68FB?

By contrast, here's a gorgeous 1911 PR66BN, (pop 6/0), with amazing colors for a so-called brown coin, AND it's pretty rare, too.

Bob, if I were twice as fine a person you think I am, I'd only be half as nice a person as you really are! And that's a fact, Jack (ok, Bob).

Not a very high grade due to the tarnish on the face, and if you can get past the reverse slab scratches, it's why MPLs. Mike

matte proofs=proof presentation strikings in strict low mintage to ensure their place forever without need of condition rarity for safe keeping

roosies=proof presentations but at vast supply and condition rarity highly factored to their safe keeping

those are facts as matty's are proof and comparing them should be done so by other proof only issues

comparing coins in their lowest also serves purpose here as list a pr60 roosie and list a pr60 matty to see they hold their bottom end fine

mind you i'm not bashing roosie's as sms cam's or dcams have certain intrique in that they were only struck once to produce such condition rarity beauty's so like matte proofs both are etched as special strikings forever in history as us mint offerings

on full bands note one wonders if "full beard" or any other attribute of a lincoln so too could be made issue but why

onlyroosies, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but all of your 68's appear to be somewhat tarnished. Have you considered dipping?

THIS TIME I REALLY AM KIDDING!!! The blue 46-S looks particularly striking . . .

Yoo Hoo, Roosevelt People, I have a question.

Why is the PCGS population for the 2005 P MS 10cent...

    One?

Not worth the slab cost to send them in with out full bands unless you hit a 70.

The MPL's clearly win. Though I am not a math wizard, these numbers I can deal with and make a determination.

Though the "we dont care for either" is very popular also.

    To each his own.

Thats the nice thing with coins, everyone can specialize their interest, or broaden their horizons to an unlimited degree.

Personally, I always follow the golden rule of my favorite professor in college, the late Willam J. Gilmore, who taught me "Specialize and Intensify".

So, in memory of the late great Ahooka, here is One More MPL!

I liked the 12 he had on his signature. He started this thread.

    Nothing more

Nothing less. (BTW I met Moe twice in 1975 and corresponded with Larry)

Yup. I personally think the 1916 Matte proof is an unrecognized rarity. The number minted/sold I keep hearing is six hundred.

<< <i>(BTW I met Moe twice in 1975 and corresponded with Larry) >>

I heard a really great story about Moe. He was at some Univeristy giving a lecture and at the end he had a Q/A segment and someone actually brought a cream pie to the lecture and asked Moe if he would throw this pie in his face. Moe said "Why" and he stated that he wanted to be able to say that 1 of the 3 Stooges threw a pie in his face! So he did!

Now I'm a HUGE 3 Stooges fan and I would in a heartbeat let any of the 3 Stooges throw one my way!!!

Thanks for letting me get off topic people...

Isn't this true with some other series such as the Barber Dime? The 1892 has a pop of just 1245, and most of the Barber Dimes hover around the 700-800 mintage levels. Heck the 1914 Barber has just 425 total minted. W/O looking, I'm sure the is realavant with all series of the times.
