    Fusco does (would not consider them major though) and Heritage will some times. Heritage auction galleries eBay has terrible feedback...like under 98%. mainly folks unhappy with shipping times...shipping art work and such
  • I agree with most of the statements on this thread, not all. Whether Ebay is making mistakes or driving the sellers away is an argument that has already been addressed by others. My 2 cents is not neccessary. The problem I have is simple. At this time, I can not find a better alternative. And that is the bottom line. Ebay will continue to push the advantages of its monopoly as long as the market will bear it. Right now, the market will still accept the situation. Boycotts are a nice way to vent frustrations, but will not have any lasting impact.

    Many times over the past years, I have tried to use alternative sites. Yahoo, ubid, amazon, many many others. None worked. They are simply too fragmented. The buyers are not there in significant numbers. Many sellers have recently left to start their own websites, an idea I toyed with on many occassions. But, I doubt I could ever get the overwhelming exposure to buyers, that I can get on ebay.

    Bottom line: I will stay with ebay, but am hoping a true competitor will arrive on the scene. Only when there is true competition will ebay keep its prices and policies at bay (pun intended).

    The stock market agrees with your basic assessment. Ebay stock was trading at 40 last October and is now down to 25. It was trading at 60 in January 2005.

    However...it's still an extremely strong company worth a lot of money - it's not like it has plunged to a buck a share.

    I've declined my Ebay usage over the past few years. The fees were one reason, although in the grand scheme of things, I suppose they should be paid for their ability to get my products in front of millions of potential eyes.

    However, as with most new things, the luster has faded, and I started collecting a bunch of stuff that is now, technically, junk. Did I need that Reading, PA phone directory from 1971? Not really. Did I need that 1950's postcard from Hollister, CA? Definitely not.

    I used to buy a ton of cards there, too, but a few cases of suspected shilling have severely soured me on that. Ebay simply doesn't do enough to attempt to prevent fraud.

    Hey, if your house is too big to clean and you don't want the expense of cleaning it, you get a smaller house!

    "...I have yet to see a payment through Paypal held for 21 days. Last night I had 3 items
    sell for a total of 480.00 all have been paid for and payment was not held. "

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    The scheme goes full-swing in May.

    MOST established collectible-sellers will NOT be affected.
    The primary target categories are fashion and electronics.
    Guys with fake/invisible 1952 Mantle cards will likely
    be hit, IF they fit other criteria.

    ALL new sellers will be hit.
