Tried out the Updated GTI 2500 today...had a weird find

and a fantastic find!....

Here is the take..Several memorial cents from one site..just too much trash in the area..they are demolishing houses and it's a mess...I did have a surface find....A paper dollar laying right on tip of the ground...!! A first for me..it's in sad shape, but heck, it's a dollar...

The next 4 finds were in my trusty old park...Hanover Square. I can't tell you how many coins have been dug from this park...It is absolutely amazing that this park is STILL giving up coins...This is a good lesson for ALWAYS rechecking a hole....all of the Indian cents were found within inches of each other...1879, 1881, 1889, 1900

All in beautiful shape, as most are from this park...

The knife is terrible as you can see....No silver today, though.....I always set that as a goal...but this was a great day...

  • wow , 1879 , pretty decent year. Im very impressed image
  • A little test......can you guess how these were lying in the soil? Hint: discoloration.
  • Very nice finds indeed, I can't wait to find my 1st IHC..probably won't be till my last son is in school though..lol

as for the GTI..iv'e been thinking hard about switching from my White's to that machine..I have a Prizm 3..and a classic..which I think out performs the 3..im no expert with the 3..but the overall performance of the GTI has really caught my attention..

but darn thier so expensive..I'll go to the local shop here and see if by chance they have 1 turned in and see if I can upgrade and trade in..always worth a shot..

    nice finds again..

    You sir, suck.

That is a great day. I bet you're pleased with your newly tuned-up machine.

I've always liked it, I've had mine since 1999, and the learning curve is longer than most of the less expensive models on the market, but once you learn the machine, you really have the confidence that if a target is in the ground, you are going to find it...

Since the upgrade, though, I have to run the sensitivity at 9.5, I used to run it at 10.5...but on air tests, it is about 2" deeper than it was...which is a plus, usually air tests are not as good as real world detecting.

    Age to depth.
  • The ones that are discolored..(1879 and 1889) were face up....the 1881 and the 1900 were on edge...

I wonder if my GTI-2500 needs the mineral chip upgrade or whatever it was you got.

Probably not. It's several years newer than yours, I guess.
