<< <i>Thought about ordering this morning, actually had my point on the add to cart. Then realized I don't have any money.
I never let deter me. I ordered 10 of the 2008 Buffalos and they are in process and will be delivered under spot!!! If not I suppose I can send them back. Who needs money, that's what VISA cards are for.

Does this mean they know the fed's are gonna lower rates again ???
*cry*
<< <i>Whew, I ordered at 11:44 Eastern today - just called the Mint to verify that I'd receive it, and she said since I did before they cut them off, it should be here in 2-3 weeks. I don't often get that lucky ~ maybe it's that lucky coin!

Mar327- just an FYI, they often will go ahead and cancel the most recent orders anyway as it seems if the price skyrockets overnight, no one catches it til the morning at the Mint and a whole bunch of us collectors have already ordered.
This has happened to me twice already this year, with the 1 oz. platinum proofs and the 2007 Buffalo (tried to order it in January before it went off sale).
Hope you get it though!

Wow, these could be GONE? No big deal as they are the same as what will be coming available so the valuable part will be the BOX.

<< <i>Intesting part of these being pullled is it DOES NOT mention re-pricing being the reason.

Miles, 3 coin proof baldies and the lucky buffalo...."I'll take the box for 30 please!!!!"
<< <i>I can buy the 08 Buffalo gold from my local dealer still in mint fresh condition for $1003. Do not need the Lucky coin from the Mint. >>
Even APMEX has them priced lower than the Mint.... 1 = $1013, buy 20 or more .. $1008 per coin

I'm sure they get special bulk pricing... And they're passing those savings onto the customer.

Ahh...but the point is that with the Lucky Buffs, you would realistically have until late April to decide if you wanted to keep them or not. AND you could pay with a credit card...

Shoot, I always forget that little detail that they are a product and can be returned.
Thank you for contacting PCGS Customer Service. We will be adding a pedigree that says Celebration Coin but it will not have a special insert. It must come in the original mint sealed box. If you want the box returned there is a fee of $2 for each box.

What kind of pedigree??
Is it a letter??
A card??
That's a bit hoaky....Johnny Cochran would say, if you submit, the slab must admit....."Celebration Coin"
Don't open your boxes folks. No special designation or First Strike if they are.
2008 $50 buff gold
<< <i>I ordered 5 Monday am just before going to work. Received e-mail tonight saying they would ship on the 31st.
I ordered mine over the weekend and got the same e-mail. I wouldn't mind it if they shipped a little later than the 31st, though.
<< <i>I would guess the first strike cutoff will be April the 8th. My coins were processed today, credit card charged. So, if PCGS is 30 days after first shipment, April 8th would be a good guess. >>
Since these are just regular bullion I think the FS has past since they have been distributed to dealers for quite some time now. You should check with PCGS to verify.

The coin could be left over from the Mint and should not qualify to receive FS designation. But then again it's up to PCGS.
Hoard the keys.
<< <i>I just placed an order yesterday for the Buffalo gold piece and a Dolly gold proof coin. My order shows both are on backorder but expected to ship. Sure hope so! >>
Me too although it boggles my mind that they continually offer products that take weeks to ship

I called PCGS, they ARE going to give the First Strike designation to this coin as long as it is sealed in the US Mint shipping box.
Gold spot is only $975 today and US Mint resumes selling this coin for almost $150 above spot. I do not like this kind of practice from US Mint.

Why not? It doesn't seem unreasonable. It's been a long time since PMs were as volatile as they are now. Suppose gold had shot up to $1200 on March 3? When they first announced the Celebration Buff, it was about $150 over spot at that time.
What bugs me is that I bought a proof Buff back in 2006, for $150 over spot, but they're only selling for around $30 over now. I would have been better off buying some uncs from the local bullion dealer.
Give me one good reason why I should be paying $100 for a presentation case?
