Home Metal Detecting

03/02/08 in Minnesota

Got out for an hour and a half today for some detecting.

Here's a pic of about one third the area I have permission to detect.

I dug three signals today. A wire, a flat piece of iron and what looks to be a bullet.

I'm not an expert by any means on the civil war stuff, so if I'm wrong on this item being a
bullet let me know. The top is sort of flatened, and sized up to the dime it seems
large. Seems to be lead and is heavy like a slug.

That is a bullet... congratulations on finds and a spectacular site. See if you can get old maps of battles etc from the library. Cheers, RickO

Once again perseverence pays off. I probably won't even entertain getting out until April with this cold winter we're having in MN. I could see doing it in a plowed field though, had I chance. Then you can dig with a pick axe and such. Way to get out there and do it and let us know if you find anything else!

I can't help you on the bullet, but I like it!
