AU, but I'm not a fan of the heavy splotchy black toning.

Strong AU details, light cleaning, decent retoning, net XF45+

    Nice coin. I'd welcome it.

Love the reverse. Obv not too bad. I'd put it at AU50 overall. These bust quarters are really tough to find with much eye appeal, IMO. I see nice dimes, halves, and half dimes regularly, but not many bust quarters.

Cannot grade that series but it sure looks like a well struck example.

It looks to be in the 50-53 range.

    Pretty Cool Stone
It has an interesting reverse, notice the cracked arrowhead in 3.
A-2 closed at the bottom, incomplete branch end near the claw.
    A tongueless eagle.
And lets not forget the die clash and cracks.
What's the marriage? I don't know. Anyone know?
Then remember too, Kneass was reworking the Master dies to get better
striking results as seen in the haircurls, they're way too high to show detail,
    just like the halves.
    How much Luster is present?
    With Luster AU55

SGFM, It's a B-4 (R1), and thanks for the analysis, the die cracks are so cool.

There is a lot of luster left on this coin which is one of the reasons why I bought it.

Details look chiseled, or very sharp.

    I would guess AU55

AU55... Just some wear on the high points. A great Bust with lots of detail.

Since you say the luster is good, this one might grade AU50. The toning would probably look much better if we could see the luster showing through it.

    nice one Stone ...

looks EF-45+ to AU-50/53 ish to me, depending on luster ... nice strike ... also appears to be a B-4 (which I beleive is an R-1 common variety)

I think the obverse has some light striking areas, as far as actual wear it has very little. I was going to say AU55 at first but I think 53 would be a safer guess. JMHO I don't know them that well but like them very much .Probably looks a lot better in hand those big pictures sure bring out every little flaw.

AU-55, but it has been cleaned.

    Congratulations!

AU, but with negative eye-appeal due to the toning.

I suspect that this coin once had an overall charcoal black color. At some point, long ago, someone tried to clean it to remove the dark color, but was only partially successful.
    All glory is fleeting.
