Some one got a rip on this one!! I was following the bidding in real time, and failed to pull the trigger on it The price realized is about 40% of retail...
With the metals strong I can't see how the show and auctions won't be strong. But it's only Thursday night......so early for a report except maybe a CCU road report.

First time I've seen one of those.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
The bourse is especially diverse at this show and is the largest ever—completely sold out, including new expanded space! American coins from colonials to commemoratives, from half cents to double eagles, beckon to be bought, sold, and traded. Paper money from colonial times to the latest errors and interesting serial numbers are in the offing—along with traditional favorites such as Educational Notes, Fractional Currency, National Bank notes, and more. Coins of the world are always popular, and ditto for ancients. Numismatics is truly worldwide. I’ve seen more interest from European, Asian, and other foreign buyers than ever before—as the attractive low price of the American dollar makes many coins seem like bargains.
“How is the national economy affecting the coin business?” I’ve heard this question a half dozen times in the past week, including this morning, just before I started writing this column [for the Whitman Daily Dealer Bulletin]. My answer is that, traditionally, coins, tokens, medals, and paper money have been immune from the gyrations of the stock market, booms and cave-ins in real estate, and other such aspects. If anything, it seems to me that many people who might otherwise be investing in, say, a commercial real estate building or a stock market favorite are cautious now and are turning to their coin collections, augmenting them.

My guess is that 99%+ of potential bidders, including me, have no idea what it is.
The Golden Rule: Those with the gold make the rules.
Thats a great rip by the way. Encased postage stamps are awesome and some of them are really rare. This is a pretty nice piece and the price seems like a gift.

I want to go but found out no wheelchairs for rent. I guess I will have to wait until the summer show. Also with so many people wanting to beat up a cripple I guess I will postpone my arrival like a boxer would a fight. Hope everyone is having a blast, the Baltimore show has always been a fav of mine.

Well, then I would expect that you just might be curious enough now to explore your American heritage enough to gain an understanding of the importance of this item in a numismatic sense. "Knowledge is King"

Why would anyone want one? Esp at that price but to each his own.
two hour drive up, 3 hours on the covention floor, and two hours back. I could have sat at home and scratched my a$$ for all the excitment I saw. I am sorry I am not trying to be a cynic but this show was a real bust for me. To much plastic and not enough raw coins. I felt like a little man in a pond of vultures my blackberry was not fancy enough, my suit not silky enough and my name not well known enough. Sorry I call it like I see it. This is my opinion only.
RACC I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
What were you looking for? With hundreds of tables on the floor, lots of tables with only raw coins, nothing? One of the most popular tables on the whole bourse is a dealer who has boxes and boxes of fresh raw coins that he brings to the shows. There are six chairs at the table, and a waiting line to get a seat.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

Well around 12:30 this afternoon half of the dealers in the back of the room were boxing up. Like I said this is my opinion and I know it is harsh but I guess I was thinking it would be more. I stood at the PCGS table for 20 minutes and when it was my turn to sit 7 people suddenly appeared out of no where with yellow receipt slips asking about their coins. they jumped in front of me and I just walked off I was so mad. There was no organization with who was next. I was looking for Ike's I know not glamours but it is what I was looking for. Like I stated this is how I felt me alone. I had one dealer tell me he was not a museum and when he got things he sold things. I am not stupid I know what a business does it was the way he said it. I just felt disappointed.

Lots of pretty stuff I coudln't afford. Lots of junk I wouldn't want. Two pickups I've posted here that I am happy with. Hats off to a couple of dealers: someone who's name espaces me for giving me the name and number of another dealer who would have what I wanted after said dealer didn't have what I wanted; to Wayne Herdon for helping me with an NCS submission; to others for being pleasant and engaging; to Angel Dee's - I'll be back! Hats back on to dealers who quoted me ridicuious prices, who told me there stuff was 'investment grade', etc.
I saw a small number of what, IMHO, were dipped out, bright coins with CAC stickers. My guess is 10 percent or less of the dealers had CAC stickers. It was not, I think, as influential as some have been saying at times.
