what is the premium on 2007-W one ounce gold?

I've been talking to local dealers about selling my 2007-W UNC one ounce gold in the original mint packaging... all of the dealers are offering the SAME price as non-W UNC examples. I find that "wrong."

what should the premium be for SELLING the one ouncer?

thanks.

It is hard to sell something for a premium that is still not sold out at the US mint's website.
  • Im talking about the premium over the price of regular uncirculated one ounce gold eagles. thanks.

Both are considered bullion coins & have no numismatic value to bullion or regular dealers. As mentioned before, the 2007-W's are still available on the Mints web site.

I haven't seen any premiums offered for the unc-W coins over melt value. I thought that there would be some interest in this issue, but the B&M dealer I sold my 07s to for melt ended up doing the same thing with them several weeks later. Supply exceeds collector demand, apparently.
  • With the way metal prices are going, none of the dealers in the Houston area are offering any premium for proofs, W mint marks or mint packaging.

It's all just bullion anymore. They aren't paying any premiums for PCGS slabbed coins at a 70 grade either.

They are overstocked with all the sellers who taking quick profits. They've got a lot of working capital tied up in them.

I was able to buy a quantity of gold Eagles last Saturday for under spot, some were proofs, some business strikes, some slabbed 70s, some still in mint packaging, etc.

Nearly all were '06 and '07 dates.

    It's all just bullion anymore.

The unusual thing is that they are flooded with gold and yet it's not easy to find 100 oz. silver bars. Very little silver in stock at all.

    Oh, COINBOY!!!!! image
  • Like with 95% of ultra-moderns, only PCGS 70's carry any significant premium over issue, the rest are closley tied to the the metal value.

  • Original mint packaged modern gold only sells for melt. Even the 06-W half ouncers are only bringing melt or lslightly above in spite of their low mintage. Kitco will buy all you got at very slightly less than melt.
Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity.
  • It is hard to turn down a guick 30% profit on 2006-W gold.
I bought a bunch of 1/2s at $370 and just sold some for $470.
While the 2006-Ws were low mintage they will likely be higher than the 2008 issues which will have to fight the fractional Buffalo.
  • The email I just got from ModernCoinMart says the following:

We are presently aggressive buyers of one owner government gold and platinum proof sets purchased directly from the mint.
Take advantage of today's high precious metals prices by emailing us, sending us a fax, or calling us for an immediate offer.

We are paying a minimum of...

    * $1,000 for 1 oz. Gold Eagle proof coins.
    * $2,100 for 1 oz. Platinum Eagle proof coins.
    * $1,850 for four coin Gold Eagle proof sets.
    * $3,900 for four coin Platinum Eagle proof sets.
