I think you have a little thing for this Bernake guy.....image

Seriously I wish the Fed could go do there thing without bradcasting it to the world. I know that will never happen, but letting people see these talks causes panic which just dont need.

I work for a bank, hopefully it does fail until after my next bonus pays........

Which, of course, is part of the problem in terms of making everyone think the apocalypse is on us. Constant doommongering in the financial and mainstream media makes recession a self-fulfilling prophecy. People who are long-term investors and not short-term market timers and momentum players are probably best served by shutting it off.

I think there was an article in the Wall Street Journal that says we will have over 100 bank failures.

Solve problem? No. Prevent them from getting worse? Perhaps.

There is little doubt in my mind that at least some of the pain in the months ahead is going to be exacerbated by people who, despite their own currently secure financial situations, will watch too much media doom and gloom and decide that they too need to be careful and stop spending. Or maybe they will be panicked into selling stocks (while they are down, not exactly the best time to sell).

Things certainly aren't sunshine, rainbows and butterflies economically. But I think the media are leading too many people into panic. And that can only make a bad situation a lot worse.

I didn't know that there were even 100 different banks left given all the mergers of recent years.

There are way too many stupid people in the market with no clue what they are doing. Certainly, they have a right to be there.. but no right to whine when they make stupid moves based on herd mentality. Financial Darwinism. But wait.... the government will bail them out - damn... wish they would just let them fade away. Grrrrrrrr. Oh yeah, I forgot, socialism. Double GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.... Cheers, RickO

Pardon me while I go stick my head in the sand and make believe everything is great.

Now where did I put those rose colored glasses..

Why do so many people think that this problem will go away if we stop talking or thinking about it.

I haven't seen anyone say this.

On the other hand, I and others *have* said that obsessing about it and the media hyping the people into a panic can make a bad situation worse. That's NOT the same thing as "ignore it and it will go away."

Typical.. just what happens in free market [which is good].. MOST of American's just dont GET IT until its TOO late.. They buy the pump-n-dump and leave their money in stocks.. Then when the gov [ in this case Bernanke] actually gives them the real status [well not even close to as bad as it really is or is going to get] they dont want to hear it. I tend to belive many on this board will be fine.. but in reallity MOST wont and will not even know it until its too late.. just another reason the rich get richer... my opinion but what do I know?image

Seems to me since we can't change it, we shouldn't be trolling message boards expressing fear
    over it either.

Im not a doom and gloom type, but Ive been saying as many on this forum have been saying that there's perfect storm a-brewing in the world ecomony - led by the debt-ridden, greedy hands of the good ole US of A - this country is going bankrupt caused by a multitude of reasons - and one is by the Feds adding fuel to the fire by handing out money - what a joke!! - IMHO, things are going to get tough before they get better and who knows if the US will ever rise from the ashes - God forbid if that ever happens!!!

This is the poop. The Fed is trying to prepare

the people for what they know is coming. While

the talking economic heads are saying the storm

will be over in a few months, they are lying or are

just plain stupid. Things will get bad for longer then

a few months. We will survive but it will get very nasty.

    Dow.... 11,000 here we come

At the risk of appearing pedantic, the Federal Reserve is as much the "gov" as Federal Express is! They may be the rulers, but they ain't the government. The creation & subsequent role of the Fed is probably the single biggest con pulled off against the US public - but I will stop, before I turn into Ron Paul.

The tax that no one ever talks about, is inflation.

It robs your paycheck, your savings and pensions

for those who have them. Make no mistake, we end

up paying for every dollar the Government spends.

This is the Golden Rule. Always believe the opposite

of whatever the Government speak says.

We are not in a recession....................................Truth, we are probably headed for worse

The slower economy will not last long..................Truth , it will be bad and long

We are taking aggressive steps..........................Truth, too late, too late

Many stocks are a good buy now........................Truth, better buys later on.

Your Government has everything under control.. Truth, Watch out below.

The economy is fundamentally strong..................Truth, Herbert Hoover in 1929, trying to brainwash
