Regarding Coin Doctoring

I understand the discontent people feel when they learn their coins may be messed with, but there isn't much we can do at this point.
The TPG system we have in place is the best system (in regards to protecting buyers from unacceptable coins) the hobby has ever had. They have to have some degree of leniency though--if they crack down too much and start sending too many problem free coins back in bags because they look vaguely suspicious there would be major issues and major frustration in the hobby.

the only way to make "greener pastures" elsewhere is to end the ridiculous high prices that artful colored coins bring. as long as there is stupid $money$ - ALOT of stupid $money$ to be blown on coins, coin dr's will thrive. they are simply providing a product to satisfy a demand. that demand is reflected in the stupid $money$ such coins command.

The TPG system can be enhanced if another party starts applying tougher standards through an approval process, say using a sticker. This can be especially helpful if the stickering organization doesn't have to deal with the frustration resulting from body bags. The two level process can lower body bag frustration for people that want problem coins in slabs while providing added assurance to people that don't want those coins.
