U.S. Mint: missed opportunities...

please list your thoughts. what has the Mint not done, in terms of a missed design on our coinage? I felt a real miss when the Schlag design of Monticello was overlooked in the Jefferson Nickel overhaul. Others?

I gotta say though, there alot of great ones they nailed.
I prefer the Carr design to the Sacagacagawea.
Some HR commems are on the way so they should be on board with this one soon.
<< <i>The most impactive (to numismatists and America) is the lack of art on our coinage. You cannot design by committee - especially when that committee is full of bureaucrats and self centered, egoists. Art needs to be done by an artist... the design delegated. Of course, someone will have the right of approval (to avoid the outrageous).. but it must be limited. Cheers, RickO >>
DITTO, no more presidents on our coinage. Lets see some real art. Weren't the current coins such as Lincoln and Washington supposed to be a short lived Commem?
Note, however, that Congress is the only autority that can authorize such an issue - so it is the fault of Congress that none were made.
I also think an opportunity has been missed because they could have issued $5 and $10 coins, especially in place of Ken halves and Prez dollars that are never used.

For this to work they would have to get rid of the paper money under $20. I would love this but most people would cry foul.
I think it's spelled Sacagacagacagawea
