Ebay listings down 13% during boycott

According to an article in USA Today citing third party tracking sites such as dealscart.com and medved.net
Ebay disputes that number but won't release their own internal stats.

It's like those "don't buy gas on X" days -- it doesn't reduce demand, it just displaces it by a couple days here and there. If this lasts for weeks, it might be significant.

Are you too lazy to even check it out yourself? Must I do all the work for you people?

Michigan, as many have now told you, just link the damn story. Because you are too lazy to do so, is to your discredit.

<< <i>How much was that due to a spike in listings the week prior to the "boycott"? >>
Pretty much all of it. Using a pre 20c listing day number, US Coin listings went up during the boycott.

Absolutely true, I got lazy and stopped updating that tracking thread I started but over the weekend the number of auctions in the US Coins category was consistently around 125,000-126,000. That number grew about 15% on the discounted listing day, but is right in line with the numbers before the boycott.

I hope you Michigan Bashers arent' serious. So the guy leaves a link out every blue moon, cut him a break, jeez. His posts are many times the most interesting thing for the day.
I appreciate Michigan's posts as do tons of more people. Please don't let these sour grapes ruin your day Michigan. The lack of appreciation shown by the few are disgusting.

A blue moon? He never links the source, and half the time doesn't even attribute the material. That's called copyright violation.

I've never seen him include a link. So a "blue moon" would be defined as every time he posts a news item?
And I'm still waiting for him to remove a home address from an article about a coin dealer who was robbed recently. That should be redacted.
Its meaning is unclear, at least to me.

What alternate websites have people been using lately with either completed sales or purchases? I hear people talking about alternates but not any success on them.

As a newspaper guy I have to agree, copyright violations are serious issues. Kinda like the internet theft of downloading music.
