Dealers in Myrtle Beach?

G/F has a conference in Myrtle Beach SC in a few days. I'm going to tag along (hell, it's free). Need something to do while she is in meetings, besides hanging out at the bars.

Anyone know of any coin shops in the area?

Thanks,

John
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

    Do you play golf?

Sorry, I don't know of any shops in Myrtle. I just moved to Pinehurst and haven't found a coin shop here yet.

Myrtle Beach is a beach and golf town. There are some other tourist venues (a cool aquarium, IIRC), but I would be shocked if there were any coin shops of note.

No, just a few Antique shops, some coins have been found there.

There was a coin shop downtown when I last lived there. That probably won't do you much good, as I last lived there in 1976. image
  • There is also (or was a while back) a killer go cart like track, but the cars are more like 3/4 indy cars. I highly recommend it. Sorry, back when I used to go there a lot on vaca, I wasn't into coins, but there are a lot of cool things to do there, it's your basic tourist trap town.

Not too much there that I know of. Last time I was there, I called one shop, they didn't have their address in the phone book, and left a message and didn't get a return call (I guess they didn't want to let anyone know where their coins were, maybe an out of home dealer). I did go to one other years ago, didn't find much, it was right off of highway 17. Sorry, I know not much help. There's a lot of good golfing there, and as mentioned a really nice aquarium. Also, you can go deep sea fishing if all else fails and you're "seaworthy".
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

I live less than an hour's drive from Myrtle Beach, and have been there about five times in the last twenty years. (aside from business)

Check the phone book. There was one coin shop that I found when I was there last year. It was in the old section of Myrtle beach on HWY 17, just about across the street from the pavillion parking deck and Mammy's restaurant.

My brother went there a couple of years ago and found a few decent deals at a pawn shop that had some coins, you never know.

I asked the same question a couple months ago and got quite a few answers. Search myrtle beach to find the thread.

If you like the outdoors and a little peace and quiet (not to mention some of the best birding in SC), the nicest place to go is Huntington Beach State Park, about 30 min. S. of Myrtle Beach on Hwy 17 near Murrells Inlet. I absolutely hate MB, but Huntington Beach is quite nice. Good seafood in Murrells Inlet too.

There is that one dealer downtown quite a few blocks from the beach, I didn't find anything worthwhile there the last time I went though. Believe it or not, me and MrsSpud won a semi-key date V nickel in an arcade down on the beach in the Pavilion area. Here is a link to a thread I wrote with pictures when we won it Link

That's the one that was there in 1976!! image

There was an Air Force base there in 1976 as well, but it is gone.
