How is that card worth $500++? I thought trimmed cards were worthless............

    Shame, looks like it'd be one heck of a card without the trimming.

    Its a Mantle I don't care how badly they are trimmed they will never be worthless. The card actually has great eye appeal and will hopefully be going to a collector who just wants the card.

    However most likely it will be cracked and sold as an ungraded beauty.

    Definitely not worthless. Some like them for a raw set. Some like them in the authentic slab because they cant spend bigger bucks for a real nice one. Some like them to crack out and sell to unsuspecting buyers as high grade. Definitely not worthless.

    Well I didn't mean totally "worth $0" but definitely not as much as the auction is going for.

    Someone might make a nice profit if they crack and sell raw.

    Eventually, somebody will make alot of money on that card.

    Wow - I hate to see someone take a blade to a really nice looking card!

    Probably had one soft corner?

    One thing I'm willing to bet? Someone bought that card not knowing it was trimmed and lost their shirt on it!

    Unfortunately someone may be buying this with rather nefarious plans?

    Still - that's a sweet looking card.

    I set my snipe at $650 but I don't think I have a chance. It's a good looking card, slightly trimmed. Good seller (consignor probably) who's selling it honestly instead of trying to slip a trimmed card past an uninformed buyer.

    I'd rather have a nice looking trimmed card in an authentic holder than a raw card I'm not sure about or a card with a better grade but no eye appeal.

    I have this one that graded a psa 2 and would consider the worthless trimmed card an upgrade.

    I didn't think PSA graded trimmed cards...isn't that why they return cards for 'evidence of trimming'?

    I believe you have to request that it be holdered as authentic.

    Card sold for $787.78

    I would rate that it good buy as the card is a beauty. Based on the buyer there is a good chance it will be for sale again. (in the holder?)

    I remember getting some cards from my cousin who lived on the west coast back in the 60's. Included in the lot was a 1957 Mantle that had the border trimmed off....never knew why my cousin did it except he was a Dodgers fan...guess he didn't like the mick! al.
