half dime

This is what my husband gave me today. He found it at the job site he was working at in Trenton, NJ today. Right there on top of the soil. The construction workers are building new houses, tore up the ground. The oldest coin i have ever found while MD'ing and digging for it was from this century. He was just walking. I am sooooo Jealous!!!! But I have a coin I din't have before.

    If that coin could talk, I bet it would have an interesting tale or two to tell. Great find for just eyeballing.

    That is one sweet find...I wonder why they felt they HAD to put holes in 'em...I found this one a while ago, and it's got the same problem...

    Sure is a shame..

    Wow, looks almost like a square nail hole, wonder if it wasn't nailed to something...neat piece just the same- most coins you see with round holes image

    I think I heard somewhere they used to nail coins to the house for good luck. great find!
