Yeah, but did you ever find that 1990 Donruss Aqueous? No, I'm kidding. Well, serious about the question. But not about the tone. That is one fantastic collection. Congrats.
Wow!!!! I think you got lawnmowerman's collection of 1,000,000,000,000 Emmitt Smith cards beat.
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
I think that awesome! Only 100billion more and you will have all his topps rookies! Have you found any other Sabo collectors along the way that have been giving you competition?
Even google didn't know anything about the $200 fine. Closest I find was a Reds brawl in April started by Rob Dibble. For some reason reminded me of their 1990 World Series celebration, the player were jumping in a pile and it really did look like they were trying to beat the snot out of each other
You might want to check out this thread over on Beckett. The past few days there has been a hotbed of activity regarding some of the late 80s/early 90s minor variations. You may know of a lot of them (for instance, '89-'92 Donruss have INC/INC. copyright line variations). You may have some 'no copyright' promos lurking in those boxes of '89 Score, too.
I'm not sure what the check was for... but seeing that it was just $200 for a "SD Fine" it couldn't have been for much. Maybe a thrown bat/helmet? SD Fine might stand for San Diego Fine... or possibly Some Dumb Fine...
I do NOT have the '90 Donruss Aqueous Test card yet... I've chased that card for a long time now. I've heard there are only 2 of them in existence, but I'm not sure how it's possible to verify that. I also need a '95 Upper Deck #433 Electric Diamond GOLD too... that one, I'll eventually find. There are a few more extremely low #'d parallels from '05 Topps Rookie Cup I don't have yet.... YET.
I've never seed an Auto that had "spuds" on it... I've never heard if he liked that nick-name or not.... I can't imagine he did. Would you?
Ironmanfan.... I did see that Orioles helmet when it was listed. It ended a little higher than I cared, AND it's an Orioles helmet. I'd have more interest if it was a Reds helmet. STILL a sweet piece though!
TomGshotput... I have noticed Shoeless-Joe's '88 Fleer Glossy PSA 10 listed. I submitted a best offer of $25, but he didn't like it. I don't think he liked the fact that I proved his 1/1 claim wrong either. He still hasn't corrected his auction title... oh well. I've submitted best offers again and again, only now to get ignored. I guess he doesn't want to sell that card to me... oh well, his loss I guess.
And to the masses... If you find any Chris Sabo's drowning in commons boxes, please set'em aside! I'll be happy to take'em from ya, trade'ya for'em, send a SASE, or try to work out some form of a deal with ya! Just PM me!
Enjoyed that a lot. Very impressive. I think the most disturbing part is contemplating the true # of Chris Sabo 1989 Topps that must be in existence. I know I could come up with at least a dozen. Possibly 20,000,000?
Always looking for 1993-1999 Baseball Finest Refractors and1994 Football Finest Refractors. saucywombat@hotmail.com
That is a fantastic Sabo collection; really puts into perspective how overproduced those late 80s/early 90s cards really were, eh? I especially liked all those 1989 Donruss ones; that's one of my favorite 80s sets.
This may be a stupid question, but what is your favorite card out of your massive collection? Do you have one Sabo you love above all the rest? One design that really stands out?
6,000 '89 Topps Sabo's. Say a million were printed (I know that might be very low, it could be10-20 million), but that'd be 6/10th of a percent of all the Sabo's, that's amazing.
"Now you have me looking for Sabo's on eBay: Sabo PSA 10 1990 Topps"
Ya, I saw that one too! ... along with the others John listed! I'll be there at the finish line... you can BET on that! Thanks for keepin' an eye out for me!
"This may be a stupid question, but what is your favorite card out of your massive collection? Do you have one Sabo you love above all the rest? One design that really stands out?"
Not a stupid question... actually, a good one. Hmmmmm.... I'd have to say my 'favorite' card of his would be his '93 Upper Deck. Sorry, I don't have a scan at the moment. It's a great action shot, as were SEVERAL of the '93 Upper Deck cards.
There are a few "Holy Grails" in my Sabo collection to me... the (3) 1/1's from '05 Topps Rookie Cup, the PSA 10 '93 Finest Refractors (both), and (both) of the '91 Topps Desert Shield BGS 9.5's come to mind.
There are a couple white-whales out there though... the '90 Donruss Aqueus Test comes to mind, and the #'d to /3 '05 Topps Rookie Cup Relic. MAN I'd like to find those one day!
Hey, I'm focused. Sorta kinda as the dust collection is evenly focused on everything I own.
And that is a very awesome Sabo collection. I have a few kicking around including a stack of 50 or so of the 89 Topps. Always liked Sabo plus he fits in to my players with glasses collection.
"Do you have kids? Will they receive this collection one day?"
Yep... I have a 2 year old daughter, and my son is due to be born in a couple months. Will the receive this ridiculous collection one day?.... Doubt it. Not sure what I'll do with this collection when I'm done. It won't be worth much to anybody else, certainly not to my kids. Who knows, maybe I'll hit the lottery and build a small museum to house this collection and it's future addings....
OR.... the entire collection could be used as kindling after I'm gone!
Well,I gotta say, its an amazing collection! I have showed it to everyone at work at they are amazed... What dedication! I wish more people would post their collections like this!
I didn't see this card in your display or in your registry set. 1990 starline, from long john silver's restaurant. If you don't have one, PM me your address and you can have this one. It's not real nice but if anybody would ever want it you would have to be the one.
I didn't see this one either. It is a 1989 Topps Yearbook Sticker with a Joe Carter Stickercard on the back (which is o/c). If you don't have this sticker, or this version, PM me.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I absoultely love this set; brings back fond memories of getting those packs when my mom got me Long John Silvers chicken when I was ten years old at the time. I agree this will be a great addition to your Sabo collection.
jimq112 ... I'll PM ya. While I do have a few of those Long John's cards, I still don't have one worth grading yet. I'll be happy to accept another one in my collection though, no matter what condition it's in!
MeteoriteGuy.... I have that sticker with Doc Gooden on the backside in a PSA 9. I also have the variation with Carter on the back in a BGS 9.0 slab. Put that one aside, along with any/all Sabo's you stumble across... eventually, when you have a few just let me know and I can send you a SASE for them if you're willing to let them go.
WinPitcher ... Thanks Steve! I always wear one of my three Sabo jersey's when I attend a card show, and with great consistency some stranger will walk up to me and say "Hey I remember that guy, he wore those goggles, right?"
1989FleerBillRipkencollector... You've been great sharing your Sabo's with me for a while now! You've already got my address, and as alway, I look forward to what you send me!

He'd probably say out loud "Wow, that's a nice collection." ... but probably mutter to himself "WOW, where's my mace!" I noticed there are very few photos of him WITHOUT the googles, did he sleep with them on? He actually looks kinda awkward without them, like a mole or something. ANyways..cool collection!
