I pay 4 Sharp Corners $4 to ship one card and get this... - Updated

  • lol a postage due notice image ?
  • 33 cents short on postage, WTF! I've dealt with them before and they seem to be legit and want repeat customers. I would pay the 33 cents and let 4 Sharp Corners know about it. I'm sure they'll do something to make it up to you.
  • wow 4SCumbags at it again? im sure the card you won was only overgraded .5 also.
  • Life isn't always fair Mark... I hope you're able to get past this.

I doubt it was overgraded .5, probably only .33

    They will refund the money.

BUT, it is not convenient for the buyer to have that happen.

Geez they made an honest mistake, why all the hub bub?

If it was me I'd pay the .33 and just move on.

Or....... I'd tell the PO to return it to the sender so they could put the proper postage on it.

Of course that is only if I really did not need the card right away.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • With the new postage rules I am suprised it does not happen more often.

I can go to any of the 5 post offices within 20 miles of me and get at least 3 different rates on shipping an item. I am betting your PO is charging 1.13 and their PO is charging 80.

The correct for a graded card should be 1.13 or first class postal. Some POs though will send it first class large envelope. When I went to pay it I would see if it was paid for at a PO or online. If it was paid for at a PO I would not pay it and demand to speak to a supervisor about it since it was their mistake.

I never said this was the end of the world or anything. I'll pay the money, but I did send a copy to them to see if they respond. If they're going to charge so much for shipping at least get the shipping right. I'm sure I'll still buy from them.

Md I wasn't implying you were, I should have been more concise.

I was referring to some of the replies.

Most notably the one that called Roger a SB.

    Your post was legit.

    Lejas

I think 4sc does the online postal thing and they must have mis weighed that one.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • with it being 33 cents that means they may not have misweighed it.

First Class Large envelope is 80 cents. First class Parcel starts at 1.13. That difference is 33 cents These amounts are easily confused by the PO as the ruling on what is what is about as clear as mud.

If it was online its possible they just clicked the wrong option and the PO caught them on it. Not a biggie.

As far as them being scumbags some just cannot handle the fact there are others that are very successful in the field.

I get different rates from every post office too. When i send a single card in a bubble mailer it is $.83 at the post office, but PayPal charges me $1.13 for a card in an bubble mailer. Anyone else get this?
  • If I go to one and am selling ungraded single cards I am told as low as 54 cents 41 plus a 13 special handling for the bubble mailer.

2 others for the same ungraded single card charge 80 cents. One charges 1.13.
  • I was just being a bit of a smartass to Mark. image heh heh.

It's hard for me to feel to badly about the .33cents, when I have to pay them by Postal Money Order and add another $5.00 for international shipping that costs little more than domestic. This adds around $10.00 to every card I buy from them. But I will still buy from them every chance I get because they're good and reliable. image

And as far as them being favored by PSA, whatever??? I've been happy with every card I've recieved from 4SC.

    Yup.

They are still telling me it has to do with trying to figure
    out the 2007 rate hikes.

    I dunno.....

Don't worry guys. I don't take anything on the boards too seriously. I just thought it was kind of funny that I had a postage due slip from a seller that everyone knows makes money on shipping. It doesn't stop me from buying from them that's for sure. None of this would have happened if my regular mail man was working today. Unlike Lee's crappy guy mine is really cool. He actually paid the postage due for me (I paid him back) the other time it happened with another seller.

They giving you a free tube of KY? J/K... Last graded card I shipped in December was 1.30
  • Last time I had my cards graded by PSA, I missed the USPS man as well. My dad took me to the USPS location in the city next door to me. I had to pick my package up.

That is the exact amount I was charged for a single PSA graded card in a bubble mailer today.

Needless to say, I try and mail all my stuff while at work. $1.47 ? What are you guys protecting your cards with Lead Shields !!!

I use 1/4 inch plywood when available .

I just wrap mine with bubble wrap and for 1 graded card at my post office it is 1.30 or 1.47 depending on the postal worker LOL. , then with the 75 cent DC it pushes it to 2.05 or 2.22.

My post office charged me 1.30 + .75 DC, and that was for 1 graded card dropped in a mailer with no protection at all (hey I was out of bubble wrap and it was a 3.00 card so sue me).

I won't even go into how much they charge for 2 cards because they are all over the board on that.

A single grade card (even with some bubble wrap around the card) placed in a bubble mailer weighs over 2 ounces and under 3 ounces, so the 3 ounces rate applies. The difference you all are getting is if that bubble mailer is now over 3/4" thick or under 3/4" thick.

3 ounces and bubble mailer with contents is under 3/4" thick = $1.14
3 ounces and bubble mailer with contents is over 3/4" thick = $1.47

Adding delivery confirmation would raise both of those prices proportionally, still leaving a 33 cent difference. It's my opinion that 4SC did not account for the thickness measurement at the PO, and thus the 33 cent mistake.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Maybe it is the size of the mailer I use? I use the 00 size.

Nope, they only care about how thick the contents inside makes the bubble mailer's outside measure. Under 3/4" or over 3/4".
  • Its not just the thickness that matters. It has to do with the rigidness of the item too. If it is under 3/4" and will not bend at all it is suppoused to go First Class Parcel which starts at 1.13.

If it will bend even slightly it can go first class large envelope which starts at .80

The new rulings are like so many other things now days twisted and worded funny to confuse the average person so they really have no clue and they can charge what they want and have a way to argue it in their favor.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Well, then my PO is just trying to get the most they can from me, as a few times I wanted to send the 1.47 item with del confirmation and she told me it was not thick enough.

    Good for you.

Here's what 4SC told me in their email

"The post office is trying to charge the package rate, when it should be large envelope."

They are refunding me some amount of money though. They gave me three options to receive the money and I haven't heard back since I picked. I'm guessing just the $.33.
  • i just got charged 5.25 for one card with dc

theduty- I think your PO is doing what mine used to do. They calculate postage by saying your bubble mailers are regular envelopes, when in fact most PO's consider them large envelopes or packages. I used to get charged under $1 too but that changed.

As a side note, I've always wanted to fill a flat rate box with liquid lead and let it harden. they gotta ship it for $8.95 no matter how much it weighs, so it would be funny to see everybody struggling with a 200 lb flat rate box. I think I might be a bad person.

Actually, I think with the new flat rate they allow up to 100 lbs. There is a local guy that comes in to my post office and ships these steel parts for drill presses and what not. I guess most weigh over 60 lbs, he sends them flat rate and pays just $9. But he had something that used to fit in the box and was close to, or over 100 lbs and they don't let him ship it flat rate any longer. THey also are much more picky about it having any bulge. It has to fit "cleanly" inside the flat rate box, which I think they shrunk just a hair too.

I had the strangest thing happen to me with 4SC. To make is simple

I ordered a card, instead of getting the card I ordered I recieved a 1977 Topps Bench, I check ebay to see who won the auction. I was my good buddy living 5 hours away. AMAZING isnt it?

Well I thought i would do the right thing and send them a note stating they sent me the wrong card but i know who the recipient is and will give it to him. THEY COULD HAVE CARED A LESS. I should kept it for my collection and had them send him another one. I got my card a day later so that would have been TWO cards instead of one.
