FINALLY! I finally figured it out and what I was missing was "palette". I wasn't showing the palettes and just using the dropdown menus. Once I re-enabled the layers palette, I found it right where you showed/said it was.
Someone give me an emoticon of a guy pounding on his own head with a big mallet! DUH!!!!
One more attempt....Once I got the overlay portion figured out it made things SOOOO much quicker and easier. This one took just under 15 minutes (also, finally figured out "free transform" much better than I was attempting before.....)
Thanks for the great templates. I cant use them without some sort of software. So until I buy some I am beat. Adobe photoshop is like hundreds of dollars. Im good, I hate not being able to use them though. They do look very good.
Thank YOU spacemonkey!!! While I don't have any pics to put into these templates just yet, it was very generous of you to offer them out!!! They are beautiful, and make everyone's coins look great!
<< <i>They are beautiful, but seeing a coin stand on edge seems unnatural.
But then again, I did see a fellow at the Hershey Pa auto swap meet years ago balance a nickel on the cylinder head of a running flathead 8 Packard. >>
check out the Post #1... I have offered several others that do not have a "3D" look for that purpose.
I never could get them to work completely, but I modified it to work well enough (I like the results!), you have already seen it in the bald eagle thread, so I won't gloat.....
I was going to modify the template larger at some point, with my pics being 8x8 the reducing is killing me. I like to view them around 20-25% of the original and will try and make a template like that at some point.
Bravo to you for sharing those templates. I don't use Photoshop yet, unfortunately. I'm still stuck with the more primitive Win95 MGI Photosuite program I have used since 1999, if only because I am a creature of habit and an old dog who's seemingly resistant to new tricks, sometimes.
I like the "reflection" effect you have in some of those. The "shadows" wouldn't really work for me with some of my Roman coins, though, because they are often more irregularly shaped (?).
I am working on a template for them, however, and one day when I have the time, I will create uniform pictures of them all. But for now, I will just continue to use the pics I got from the past owners.
The first big imaging project I have to complete is of all my metal detector "dug" coins of the past 16 years. I am making progress there, and I do have a template for that. Here is a sample. It's not so sophisticated as what you've done with your commems and such, but I think it'll do.
The new Digger's Diary coin picture thing will be a long project, as I have more than 300 coins in my "Digger's Diary keepers" album. So far I have all the templates done with the numbers, the titles, and the coin pix, but I have to add the descriptive text below all the pics, still.
These will phase out the old ones, which were smaller (and originally intended for sigline use here). The old ones might be better, now that I think of it (?)- they were simpler, with the plain white background. But the small size only allowed for pretty small pictures. The newer ones don't have much larger pics, but a bit bigger, anyway, and more room for text. I only did maybe 20 of the old ones. I have never had all my dug coins imaged.
Here is a sample of one of the few older images I made.
The new format for my DD coin pictures isn't fantastic, I guess, but like I said, it'll do, and it's a bit better than what I have seen in most detectorist's online albums. It'll also be a way for me to keep running tallies of my silver count and so on.
Eventually I will have them on a page with thumbnails, where viewers can click to see pics the size of the one in the previous post.
Does anyone have a nice Template for 4x6 Photos? I'd like to have some printed out at Walmart/Target, but the current templates seem too wide.
I would think a 1800x1200 (6x4) would be about th best size for something like that. Two round coins, side-by-side, seem a little too wide. Maybe with a larger space for the description below...

I have added 2 very large templates to the first post.
Mega thanks to SpaceMonkey for sharing his photoshop expertise and the templates he has made available for members. Threads like this is really what this forum is all about and I for I really appreciate it.
I have to say, SM is amazing and was a hugh help. I asked if anyone could help and he answered the call immediately. I loove my new sig-lins. What do you guys think?
For those who don't know, you can also use these files with JASC Paintshop Pro 7. (Or I suppose you could use them with Corel Paintshop Pro as well, just not as friendly as JASC PSP 7.) You don't have to have Photoshop to use them.

I have been a collector for over mumbly-five years. I learn something new every day.
<< <i>Hey SM, do you think you could add some dansco 7070 templates?
Thanks for all the other ones in here, I've been using them! >>
these are a bit tougher to make a "template" for because of the numerous steps needed... but once i finish the overall concept I will probably offer it in some sort of simplified form.
Wish I could get the reflections to fade out a bit more. I'll work some more tonight.
Just to let every one know. I was using the free GNU Image Manipulation Tool (GIMP) to do the work. Download is free. Its a sort of Open Source (read free to use) Photoshop.
FYI, just bought Photoshop Elements 7.0 from Costco today and I'm looking forward to trying out these templates!!! (Thanks SpaceMonkey!!!)
The software was $79.99 with -$30 deducted at the register. Was $57 total after CA sales tax (now up 9.25% in my county :Yikes. Don't think there's a better deal that than for this software, but I think it's only good until tomorrow.
Also, even though these templates will likely keep me busy for awhile, just wondering if there are any other templates available from forum members???
Ok, after about an hour of trying, this is the best I could do It is so hard to select the coin perfectly using that darn ellipse tool, I guess it just takes some getting used to. Thanks again for the templates
Still practicing photography so i think it couldve come out better but this one was a lot easier and it took me but about 15 minutes or so. Very easy...the longest part was photographing itself
I've gotten a little better at using the template since I first tried it out. Now it only takes a few minutes to make each one and it makes the photos I post here and on my Registry sets look that much cooler!!! Thanks again Spacemonkey (for the templates) and BECOKA (for the tutorial on how to use them)!!!!!!!

Do you think you can modify Template 7 to 8 coins wide and 2 coins high?
That would fit my entire Classic Head Collection with room for the last one.
