Tommy is 12-4 so far this year so I wanted to get him on my mini. He signed it on 9/11 in Colleyville, TX. I was at Notre Dame that weekend, so I couldn't get it myself, so I sent it to the store and they got it done for me.
Rangers are coming home next week for their last homestand before the playoffs. I might take a couple days off work and go out there and chase autographs like I used to do when I was younger. Should be fun and I hope I get a chance to do it. There are a few more I'd still like to get on my mini so that will be my objective. Josh Hamilton, Michael Young, CJ Wilson, and Ron Washington are the main ones I'd still like to get. And if they'll fit, David Murphy, Darren O'Day, Nolan Ryan and a couple others. Some of those guys are pretty good signers at the park, except Young is going to be very tough, for some reason, he seems to sign very good on the road, but not at home.
I made it out to the tunnel today and got 4 more. David Murphy, Julio Borbon, Mitch Moreland, and Matt Harrison. I also got them to sign a birthday card for my daughter. She'll love that when her birthday rolls around. Man, times have changed in the 10 years that I haven't been to the tunnel. In the mid 90's, I used to go and a lot of days, I'd be the only person there and it was quite easy to "clean up" on sigs. However, in the late 90's, it became more crowded and I didn't enjoy it much. Today, on a Tuesday nonetheless, there were 24 people at the tunnel trying to get graphs!!! My old body doesn't hold up nearly as well anymore as it did back then. I was ready to go home after 4 hours out there.
Nice Haul!! I can feel your pain, I have been out of the autograph game for 17 years. This year was the fist time I have attempted to graph and my body just doesn't hold up like it used to. My feet begin to hurt after the first 30 minutes.
Great thread. I am a life long Twins fan but like the Rangers too. A few weeks ago I brought the family to Target Field to watch the Twins play the Rangers. We went to the game on Saturday and Sunday. We stayed over at a Motel close to the stadium and found out the Rangers were staying there as well. That was a lot of fun. Both of my boys love Josh Hamilton and he was so cool. He signed a number of baseballs for the boys. Everyone signed and was very friendly with the exception of Michael Young who we did not see in the motel all weekend. I had heard that Vlad doesn't like to sign much but he couldn't have been nicer when we saw him.
Always looking to buy old Minnesota Twins and Vikings memorabilia like Nodders, Photo Pennants, and Photo Buttons.
It's been awhile as law school has consumed the last 3.75 years of my life, but wanted to share my best Rangers item that I just picked up last night in the Heritage Auction. Have wanted one of these since the first time I saw them years ago. It's the front office version rather than the players version but still freaking sweet. I live close to Heritage so I went to see it in person a couple of weeks ago and it was love at first sight and even fit Has the original box too. It's my gift to myself for passing the bar exam.
Man, Loved reading your story. Maybe your daughter, will pick up where you leave off. We need more younger folks, that are into collecting. great pick up on the ring, and congrats on passing the bar. Tom
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
and the ring is cool too, I guess it was easier to buy the ring then study for the bar
