Are collectors really "caregivers" for cards?

I read a profile of one of the Beckett graders who described collectors in this context. Interesting take, I guess. I suppose it's somewhat true if you believe that cards are like antiques, vintage cars, etc. and that their owners are preserving them for future generations.

What sayeth you?

  • I tend to collect historical space items and meteorites more then cards, in those catagories I would consider myself a caretaker. In cards I don't really own any card of great value so less so.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

  • When I was 10 the floor of my bedroom would be covered in cards and I would walk across them and sometimes roll my swivel chair across them. The less that happens the less I care
